Hella dudes ask,

What's up with the listing on Xbox.com in Korea that says the downloadable content is coming out as a retail game release??

Next week, we’re going to have a major announcement about the details of our new maps. Right now, there are some dates, details and ideas out there that are actually wrong, so please take everything you read between now and then with a grain of salt. We can't talk about how and when the new maps will be released, we'll leave that to the smart folks who actually do all the logistical work for this stuff – marketing and PR, but we can tell you this much - our entire plan is designed to make new content available for everybody, those with Xbox Live and those without Xbox Live. We hope in the end, everyone will be satisfied.

Hahahaha...and people said that Bungie would never do something like this to their fans...

Oh man, MGS +1 on the evil scale.

did you read the update?

*Hype Builds tremendously, next week's announcement arrives*: "We've got great updates for you guys. First, we're gonna fix all of the bugs. We're stoppign the cheaters dead in their tracks! The multiplayer maps are awesome. They halo classics like Sidewinder and many more. Hell, we'll even give you guys the old pistol back, since you bitched so much. And you know when we're gonna do it?! We're gonna give you all of this......oh shit, I forgot to put the ending in"

*Plays it off like nothing went wrong*

haha. wait that wasn't even funny.

If they added sidewinder, it would be a broken walkfest just like coagulation is now.

Actually, the question is did you read the update.

Most likely scenario:

- Xbox Live users get the maps for "free".
- Non-Live users have to buy a pack.

I can dig that as long as they install to the hdd, and you only need one copy for a lan party.

If the downloadable content isn't ready within a month, I will officially ban myself from all future Bungie games.

i dunno, if its really 8 new maps, i'd say it hasnt taken all that long really... i'm impatient as the rest of you, but thats almost doubling the # of halo 2 maps. quite a bit of content if you ask me

I really hope that some of the new maps are more akin to Zanzibar than Foundation. Maps where you can interact with your environment (like open gates, drop bridges, etc).

yeah, really. kinda pissed me off that they showed off sooo much of zanzibar and all the cool shit you could do then the game hit and there was almost none of that interactivity in the other maps...

Heh, you really don't see it yet, do you?

Why aren't they denying the newstory? Up until now they've always come out and said that they will not charge for extra content. Always making reference to the news articles. Now they're sidestepping the issue.

Because denying is announcing something in a way.

Something that would be known/changed in the peoples minds prior to the scheduled date of announcement

Oh my god you're right...they screwed millions of fans out of getting maps sooner just to take a small chunk out of PSP sales. Well played Microsoft Marketing Department, well played.

i dunno man, i must be reading an entirely different article...

no, the author of the update didnt really clarify or outright confirm/deny todays speculation. but he did say (and yeah, i'll fucking quote it again), "Right now, there are some dates, details and ideas out there that are actually wrong, so please take everything you read between now and then with a grain of salt".

maybe they arent at liberty to discuss this now? obviously what ever is going on with the DLC announcement was to be in their hands... this "leak" of sorts was probably unexpected, and doesnt mean they have to directly answer any of it.

anyway, whatever. please, carry on, bitching and moaning about how bungie is ripping us all off, and that its all but confirmed by their lack of direct response to the issue...

I swear, all of you who are bitching,if the maps are free to Live users then I want to play with all of you just so I can confirm you weren't just trolling something you'd never play in the first place :lol

deal!

but if they aren't free, you buy them for me, and we'll play

Just wait and see what happens. Don't all flip your lid. They are being vauge at this point. Don't jump the gun.

I need a fix cause I'm going down
Back to the bits that I left uptown

People will bitch about anything...

Xbox Live users are paying for a service. A service that enables developers to deliver downloadable content for free.

People without XBL are not paying for a service. There is no method to get them the same material for free. MS has to pay for packaging, advertising, distribution, and retail space.

Either way, everybody is paying for the maps in one form or another. Where's the problem?
