Burnout Revenge trailer

all I have to say is....... Burnout 5 on PS3 and X360 is going to fucking OWN.

Awesome. Revenge pretty much fixed all the problems I had with BO3. JUMPS.

Burnout + San Fransico Rush style jumps = :D
 
Wow, the new tracks looks spectacular. I wonder if:

* There's more challenge to be found in the racing events than BO3
* They fix the crash mode (ie remove the ability to steer the car after impact)

Also, you can't help but thinking what Criterion will whip up on next gen hardware...

That wasn't the problem with the crash mode. The problem was the 2x and 4x multipliers. Those are gone.

Those were the other problem, resulting in that you basically only had to find a way to steer into those multipliers. So getting rid of those is a step in the right direction, I suppose. But I really preferred the way you had control only up to impact moment and then just could sit back and watch, pondering on improvements for the next run.
 
I think this way will do pretty good.

What I did when I got bored of the regular mode in BO3 was just skip the multipliers and go for destruction. With aftertouch you could get your car into some awesome pileups then crashbreak that shit everywhere. It was awesome to see because that normally chained lots of other stuff, but being that you never hit a 4x your score didn't mean shit. Hopefully this new mode works more like my awesome destruction runs :)

They just might. That song is "Come On" by Andy Hunter. Another one of his tracks ("Go") was used in SSX3.

One of the few good games from EA but somehow they dont spread it like the turd that is need for speed.......where's the pc and Gc versions?

There is going to be even more in this game. With the addition of bumping traffic out of the way, this means you are probably crash much less. With now knowing that, how would you get "revenge" on someobdy that hit you if there wasn't mass catch-up?

I personally didn't have any problem with the AI in BO3.
 
I grabbed a copy of the demo from BB last night. As a vet BO player since the first game, it took a lot to override ingrained reflexes to avoid traffic and instead now hit it. I'm not sure I think the change is an improvement overall. Traffic check takedowns are neat, but the need to display at least competent level of driving skill is gone. Between the ability to hit just about anything that isn't coming right at you and the fact that you practically have to hit the side of the road head-on to trigger a collision, there's very little reason to worry about your driving skill except for a few choke points on the track. Which makes it ironic that they've added a driving skill meter at the end of a race. In this respect, BO4 has diverged significantly from the game that BO1 was.

I'm also not crazy about having access to the Crashbreaker just about every time I get in an accident - I don't think there was an accident when I didn't have access to Crashbreaker. Aftertouch was a cool addition in BO3 that was pretty well balanced and actually required some skill to get results, so any takedowns accomplished during aftertouch were actually satisfying. Crashbreaker requires almost no skill in comparison and also greatly amplifies the distance over which you can travel in Aftertouch mode. In combination with the fact that the camera gets even more confused with Crashbreaker in BO4 than it did with Aftertouch in BO3, the feature just feels sloppy. Rather than add Crashbreaker to racing accidents, I'd rather they'd just have improved the BO3 Aftertouch by giving the player camera control on the right analog stick.

That tracks now have multiple paths is a nice addition though. But, overall, unless some of the other new additions get tweaked for final release to put a little more emphasis back on driving skill, I think I may very well pass on a BO title for the first time.

As much as I hate to agree with that statement, (because I used to hate the Rubberband AI as well) it's true it does give the game more challange & replayabilty.

and i bet they'll include the Need for Speed Most Wanted demo in the final version of Burnout Revenge

I hope those x2, x8, etc. numbers that popped up during the highlight of the "reinvented crash mode" means they're going back to a more BO2-type Crash mode. BO2's was a lot more strategic, trying to figure out the best way to involve the most cars (since it was damage times # of cars involved). BO3's Crash mode was kind of dumbed-down.

Boy, those shortcuts and jumps look insane, especially at such high speeds! :-O

Can't wait. :D
 
Holy Crap @ this game... It's really impressive, and rock solid 60fps too (except for crashes which are still 30fps like BO3).

EA should be ashamed. If Criterion can this get kind of performance out of PS2/Xbox, they should hang their head in shame at the performance of their very own NFS series' performance this gen. Burnout Revenge looks/performs like a generation ahead of nearly everything EA shits out.

Another thing, if a game can look and perform this amazingly well on PS2/Xbox, then I am willing to believe that we will indeed reach near the level of the Killzone and Motor Storm graphics sometime during 360/PS3 lifespan.

Btw - I'm playing this game in 480p on my hdtv and it really is quite impressive. If it comes out for 360 I will definitely pony up for it just to see this bad motherfucker in HD. This game already gives Most Wanted X360 a run for its money in its current state, I wouldn't be surprised if a X360 version of BO Revenge with the same graphics only in HD smoked Most Wanted X360.
 
I`m starting to hate this series just as much as I do NFS. Talk about milking franchises.

And in typical EA fashion now after 3-4 games of the series they`re now dropping the sequel number in the title so people might think they`re picking up a fresh game.

What will NFS Most Wanted actually be, NFS 11 ? 12 ? I`m sure there will be another Burnout next year too, Burnout - Hell on Wheels or something.

But it'll be on next gen system! Buy +1. After that though, there probably won't be another reason buy another burnout until the next gen. :,(

Damnit, this was my big fear when I heard you could hit traffic. Whats always been fun about Burnout besides the combative racing is the weaving through traffic at high speeds with a risk/reward factor. Cant get my head around why they'd take that away, thats the whole enchilada right there. If I was cynical (and I am) I'd say EA producers got on Criterion to highlight the crashes as much as possible and make it more of an "exhilarating experience" aimed at casuals. Wait and see but this dont sound too good.
 
I grabbed the demo from BB tonight (PS2 version), and while it's still fun, it seemed weird to get so close to oncoming traffic and have it do nothing for your boost, and it really felt weird to just plow through other traffic without even slowing down sometimes. It seemed that if you squarely rear-ended someone, it would cause you to wreck, but if you were just a little off that mark, their car ended up disintegrating and you wouldn't even slow down. The ramps and alternate routes are very cool, while the demo doesn't really offer anything spectacular there. I'm looking forward to the game still, but I think after this game, I'm going to have had my fill of racing games for a good long while (with the exception of Mario Kart :D ).

Also, the explosions seem to pack more of a punch, visually and audibly, and it seems like there's more of a "jerk" when activating boost.
