Busiest Messageboards

Just wondering for trivia's sake, any idea what might be some of the busiest messageboards out there in terms of users per day? I'm thinking perhaps something TV or movie related. Slashdot, Fark and Something Awful are quite popular, but how they compare to the boards for more popular media, I don't know. MTV? HBO? Oprah? Any ideas?

Yup, with some funny stats too. We are no. 8 with an average of 659 people online out of 7920 total members according to that. All the other sites around GAF have TONS of members.

GAF would have way more posts too if we hadn't recreated so many times.

The guy with all the 'K's in his avatar is Swedish, I think.

There's someone else who used to post a while back on one of the older forum formats who was Swedish, though his name escapes me (probably changed a few times). I just remember constantly arguing with him in the many VF/Tekken threads.

The users online stats are voluntary. Only about a tenth of the sites listed give that information to them. GAF would rank much lower on all of the lower stats if it weren't for that.

We range from #90 to #150 for posts in the last week, though, which means that eventually that's probably where GAF would sit on the post count ranking. Right now we're dropping on that ranking because they seem to have forgotten to track our post count again.

Our post/member ranking is also #117. Gaia is somewhere down around #1500.
 
GAF is definately one of the top 100 active forums. We'd have even more traffic if we had a comparable number of sub-forums, like those massive forums have.
 
The biggest board on the internet is 2ch, easily

On a serious note, 10 million is batshit crazy.
 
nichan is so large it has become a force in itself, with sufficient size to tilt on-line voting.

Most recently, Avex, the Japanese manufacturing studio for crappy singers for anime shows, was forced to pull a character that was a rip-off of mona, a popular ACII character in 2ch after complaints form users.
 
I signed up for IGN the week it was produced. I think I'm like the 1,000 member or something. My first message board ever was Pojo's Pokemon. :D

Gaia is a little bit *too* big for my tastes. Where the hell do you start?

Indeed. The collective power of the nichan community can overpower pretty much any news outlet.

Keep in mind that the daily visitor stats are as of 2001. I wouldn't be surprised if it were up to 15-20 million visitors per day now.

The largest board on bigboards has 16 million total posts. Nichan gets that in about a week.

Gaia has 400 million total posts, but i'm not denying the enormity of 2ch.
