Business Administration majors?

I was thinking of changing majors when I go back to school. I am currently and Information Systems major and there are a couple problems I've run into. The first being I'm just not that interested in computers as I once was. My tastes have definitely changed from 2-3 years ago. The second being related to the first in that I wasn't connecting with that my professors were teaching me (Bus topology? Umm, yeah. Zzzzz)

If I did change majors I'd be able to graduate a semester earlier than if I stuck with IS. So, is anyone here a Bus Admin major and if so how do you like it? What jobs have you applied for or have had with this degree?

I looked into it. Admission is very competitive at some schools, and I ended up going with economics instead. If you have more of a math or analytical background, economics might be better for you. A BS in econ might be substantially harder than business admin, while a BA might be a bit easier. Business Admin would be good if you like finances, accounting or marketing.

With either degree, you'd be eligible for all manner of auditing, budgeting, finance, planning or similar administration for most major companies and government organizations. I might recommend a communications double major to complement it well.

I dont really care for economics that much but I did better in it than I did with accounting (with which I had greater interest in but lower grades).

I did a BA with an emphasis in Marketing and did product marketing for a while. There were different emphasis' in my program that led to accounting, sales, IT and other programs. There is a lot of flexability with a Business degree, and can lead to a variety of jobs.

If you chose business as a major, be prepared to get long, hateful stares from the engineering majors. To us, you're not "MBAs", you're "those fucking halfwits that get all the chicks".

I'm a business admin major with an option in advertising and you know what? School's just there to suck up your money. I haven't learned anything that would REALLY help me in the real world. I'm doing an internship right now, and I'm telling you that's where the real learning comes in. School's just there so you can get that piece of paper that says you did it.

I have a B.B.A. from UT and I only used it minimally in the industry that I later decided i wanted to work in (video games), though in many other industries it would have been advantageous. I don't regret it but I somehow feel that I would be much further ahead of where I am now if I had gone straight into the industry via the testing route (less debt, and probably more seniority).

Had to put in my time just as much as the next guy who only finished high school to get to where I am now (Assoc. Producer).

Artful, did you have to pick up another degree to ge the job you have now or was it just on the job training which your BA degree served as background?
