Ok, so the Braun "acticator" 8585 I was going to get ran out here in town and now I'm looking for alternatives. I'm thinking something Philips, but I've only run background info on the Braun ones.

The one I was gonna get had automatic cleaning and a dock sharger, wich are big plusses, but I suppose I could settle for one that cleans under water, in any case I don't have a lot of time to make up my mind and I have ~$160 to spend. Any suggestions? I'd like a waterproof one for shaving in the shower.

After a few weeks, I've concluded that those Cool Skin Norelco things are pretty good. I found the top-model on sale at Target. I'm not sure what the deal is now.

But it's certainly better than my Norelco dry electric. They kinda get you with the refill packets, though.

Nono, I was attacking you manlyhood, not the shaver. You see, no _man_ would have anything to do wit.. oh screw it, I just don't wanna be all gooey when I'm done.

I went to WAGs boutique and all I got was a sniff
I cant stand electrical shaver, all of them suck. If I were you, just buy Mach 3, much better than any electrical shaver.

I tend to agree. I've tried electric shavers and they NEVER get a close enough shave. You stick with the blades all the way. The Mach3 lasts for a long long time too...those blades never seem to wear out.

Fuk. I would rather be gooey when I'm done than to have dry, chapped, nicked up skin. While I'm not THAT hairy, my beard started coming in during my first year of high school (no, I wasn't left back :lol ). Now, fast forward to today, if I cut this thing on Monday, it's ready to be cut again on Thursday afternoon. You know the phrase "5'Oclock shadow"? They're talking about me. Shave in the morning, stuble by 5pm. Not only that, my facial hair is so coarse, if I didn't shave for a week and you rub your the back of your hand on my chin, it's coming away with a bunch of small cuts. That area where my adam's apple meets the bottom of my jaw becomes sore and raw if I go too long without shaving. :lol

How do I deal with it? I tried a Remington electric, not a triple head but the old school one. This was a good solution for a while, but when the blades get dull(and they dull fast), they start to pull hair instead of cutting; like getting your shoelace caught in an escalator. Really painful!
What I do now is buy a bunch of BIC razors, and only shave once a week. Sure, I walk around looking pretty scruffy for a couple days out of the week and I get complaints, but I don't care. It's my face, and if they don't like it, fuk em'! :lol
It's kinda of a shame though because my chin is my best feature(it's that and my hands that I get a lot of compliments on) according to the ladies (I think it's the cleft?) and it's only visible 2 days out the week. :)

I had one of the brauns that cleans itself (you put it in the base to clean the blades & recharge). Before that had the rotary razors... the thing that sucks about foil like the braun is if you shave any part of your face above your chin (so it's flat), the hair that it's removed so far and hasn't been cleaned falls out all over your shirt through the holes. After a year and a half, the razor crapped out and I had to have the motor/such replaced under warranty. Now the base station latch won't lock on anymore to charge/clean the razor. It did a so-so job shaving for me, so I decided to pick up a rotary again. Went with the Remington because it was $30 (normally $70) in Fry's Day after xmas sales... it gives me a really good close shave, but razor burn like hell afterwards. I need to put on the nivea for men sensetive skin after shave balm right after or it hurts like hell. I've heard that most of the Norelcos are much less abrasive than this... I like the job it does, but I'm looking at upgrading in the future to a Norelco to do a good job without hurting so much.

I used Norelcos for a long time and they burned the hell out of my neck. I tried one of the lotion ones once, and it helped but didn't do much of a close shave for me. Maybe newer models are better, I don't know.

I've been using a three-blade razor and that's okay, but it's hassle and I always end up getting one good nick that just refuses to stop bleeding. My face is too sensitive or something :( I've been thinking about trying another electric shaver though, and I was looking at that Braun Activator.

I just want some way of shaving in the morning, relatively quickly and painlessly, and that doesn't leave my face/neck cut or burned. Why is that so much to ask for?

If someone could figure that out, they'd make a mint. I'd buy it.

BTW, this is what I've been using - http://products2.nivea.com/products.php?page_id=1526&lan=com&product_id=1184

I wish I had $160 to spend on an electric shaver...

Anywho, My friend just got one of those norelco cook skin shavers and he loves it.

Honestly, I've had no problems with my bottom of the line Braun. The Norelco I had burned me something horrible, and none or the razors I've tried do much of anything unless I go against the grain - which leads to nicks and razor burn at the same time.

OTOH, I've got virtually nothing in the way of facial hair - just enough to look like some ridiculous teenager - so YMMV

The trouble with electric razors is that you have to train your facial hair by using the electric far too many times. And it just seems worthless. But if you give it a few weeks your hair will change and you should get a closer cut. I tried electrics, several kinds. And i now shave with a Mach 3, a little soap and old fashioned lather. I like the feel of doing it myself.

Now if only i could find a good neck trimer..... Fucking hair has been growing insane like since i got a hair cut.
