I really know nothing about RAM manufacturers and many hardware makers, so I decided to hit up the GAF before I bought some more RAM. I'm going from 512MB to 1GB or 2x512MB ram, and I wanted to know if any of you guys had any suggestions as what to buy. My computer supports PC2100/DDR226 type memory, DIMM 184-pin.

Crucial, Kingston, Corsair, none of them are really fly-by-night places. It's just a matter of how much you want to spend. Crucial usually undercuts the competition, but that's only because they're not only the seller of the RAM, but also the manufacturer of the actual chips.

Doo doo doo... I suppose I'd want to spend in the area of 175-225, because the RAM I have right now is somewhat cheapish, and I've learned that when it comes to computers, higher price equates higher quality.

Try ramseeker.com They're pretty good at helping you determine what you'll need and how much you'll want to spend. And as the above poster mentioned, try out crucial. Their website is really informative.

Honestly with that slow of RAM, I'd think any brand name that isn't shady should be fine.

Don't go spending more than $75 on it. All you want it to do is work error free. Getting low latency RAM that costs several times as much does not mean higher quality. It means 1% more system performance and 300% more money spent on RAM.
