I actually did one today in a precarious situation on accident, and it felt pretty awesome. I would not do it again

Just wondering what it feels like it you're somebody who can do it on the regular.

Also I'm 1/2 through a bottle of blue. So bear with me.
1. Does backflip by accident.
2. Drunk.

Starting to think number 1 didn't happen.

Nope, could sort of do a front flip when I was younger.(End up landing on my back on my bed) I could also do a kip up but those are kind of easy once you figure them out.(The trick is get your feet under your butt. If you do that it's easy.)

I could many different kinds of flips years ago.
Now I can only do a cartwheel side flip on any surface; I'd have to practice the other ones again.

Nope. Can do standing and jumping forward 'forward roll/summersault' forwards and backwards.

You need crazy leg strength and trust in your rotation for a backflip lol.

I have never tried on land. Too much body to rotate. My son can do them like they are nothing.

I use to do a really good tuck and roll. Run tuck roll and run again never losing stride.

Thought this was the one were Magnus learned the backflip. Don't think it's in it. Still very entertaining to watch; Magnus has been a World champion in climbing. Used to watch his vids with guests comparing strenght etc.

I can still do one but honestly it feels like more work/risk than it’s worth for anything useful…as well as probably looking quite a bit more dorky than a front flip; high jump back, tuck in knees to chest and get the feet back out early enough to land on the tail end of the spin backwards….It’s just such a high risk of head/neck injury on a fuck up I feel very leery even doing it despite being trained to do it.

If I don’t get the height on the initial jump I can fall straight down on my head and no amount of break-fall training will save me….Front flip I’d only really worry about landing on my ass and keeping my head up, but even then it’s even more forgiving because I can run into it and create momentum. Back flip is generally always from a standing still position….it’s a lot harder.

I'm pushing 50 years old I'm lucky to get out of my truck without injury.
I’m just over 40, and I think honestly too an extent in a lot of cases it’s a use it or lose it type of thing (granted people get injuries which are unavoidable); I do squats and stretches just to prevent ending up looking like a decrepit old man and maintain what I have, and really it’s not really muscle but flexibility. Granted I’m also physically active a lot of the time…it’s just things like being able to clip on to the D ring on a fall arrest harness (it should be right between your shoulder blades) without help, being able to crouch down quickly, being able to climb things etc.

You don’t know how much you enjoyed that movement till you left it too long and you can’t do it anymore, if you can keep doing it try to keep it going.

My own mother does Tai Chi every day with those similar squats and she’s well into her 80’s and is still able to do it, and will work in a light jog…and then I look at some people in their 50’s and 60’s that just hobble around….

…Stay active peeps and keep flexible.

Ehh my problem is that I destroyed my knees when I was younger through sports, skateboarding , surfing, and just being tall.
