This might be a weird request, but I've been trying to identify a certain robot monster I saw in a manga/comic from my childhood, all I remember distinctly what it looked like, but not what manga/comic it was from.
I attached a crude drawing of it. Sorry I'm not really an artist but I used to draw this thing so much as a kid that I can still draw it till this day. It basically looks like a domed UFO with windows and tentacles, and beaks at the end of the tentacles which can shoot out lasers.
Here are some more info that might help identify it:
I'm almost 100% sure if was from a manga (ie Japanese)
It might be Astroboy, but I tried looking up all the robots from Astroboy and could not identify it.
It was from the 1970's or even earlier.
It was a robot that the main villain piloted.
Also, there seemed to have been several references to it in video games, such as the Super-8 robot from Cyberbots:
And the final boss from Metal Slug XX:
So I was thinking these designs must have been inspired by the original robot...I just don't know what it is. Can anyone help?
