Canada getting the shaft now...

After quite some time of favorable or at least comparable prices, we seem to be getting the shaft until further notice:

Nintendo DS, Xbox:
$150 US ($180Cdn)
vs.
$199 Cdn ($155 US)

Gamecube:
$99 US ($120Cdn)
vs.
$139 Cdn ($116US)

PS2 actually comes across even, at $150 US vs. $180 Cdn.

Just noticed it when I was checking price/release date for the DS. Ah well, I don't know if I was in the market for one since it doesn't connect to the Cube....

The general rule for RETAILERS is not linked directly to the exchange rate.

For instance, we're getting awesome deals on First Party Software...it's $50 American, $60 Canadian. That's actually pretty exact to the exchange rate.

While the Canadian dollar is rising rapidly, retailers aren't going to drop prices automatically; hell, they can leave them where they are and make more money, while the average joe is none the wiser.

Actually, I think it has very little to do with the retailers themselves and more to do with the manufacturers not adjusting their MSRP.
