this thread makes me feel bad for the Amazon employees. Some of you guys are really whiny about that whole 20% off thing

Pokemon is now at $40 and they're matching that price eventhough you pre-ordered it for more than that (even with the 20% applied), i'm just glad i'm getting it for cheaper than I expected

Well it did go down to $49 which makes it the same as the other retailer and 20% off of that is around $39 which is actually the "regular" price less the 20% off E3 discount.

Which is in line with the current regular price less the incentive discount equals the expected price.

eh it's not just Pokemon, I mean some people here we're contacting them because the rebate was 19.6% instead of 20%. I understand that our economy is fucked but at some point if you're counting pennies that hard maybe you shouldn't be buying games

Ended up buying Mega Man Collection and SEGA collection on 3DS on Amazon.com instead of Amazon.ca....this is ridiculous.

Amazon.com - Both games are 19.99$ (USD, yeah, but still waaaay more worth it)
Amazon.ca - Both are like 40$+

Stay on track with your deals, for god sake...

The first order? It was a regular order. I made it before they raised the price of the games to $59.99. I wanted to lock in the $49.99 because there was no guarantee we'd be getting th games cheaper. Strange stuff right? I'm not complaining though.

I must've missed those people contacting them about a 0.4% discount.

Isn't that the point of it all. The CDN$ is low vs the USD$ and the money that you set aside for "frivolous" things did not increase vs the increase in price of those stuff. You are "counting pennies" in order to purchase and acquire as much of those "frivolous" stuff that you can get.

I don't see anyone contacting Amazon about 0.4%.

In any case, I contact Amazon because I expect them, as a major retailer, to know how to do basic math. It's quite concerning to me that a company that handles this much money is having so much trouble understanding what "20% off" means.

that's the post I was referring to

I mean it's fine you can do what you want and pick your battles but I think it's a little over the top at that point. Especially on a $1000+ order on VIDEO GAMES

A heads up, looks like we have a PSN flash sale incoming. Prepare your backlogs I guess

Finally our time has come. Knack for $7.99

https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-ca/games/knack/cid=UP9000-CUSA00068_00-KNACK00000000000

EDIT: Looks like Last of Us Remastered is $11.99. Never seen it this low

https://store.playstation.com/#!/en...ered/cid=UP9000-CUSA00552_00-THELASTOFUS00000

Velocity 2X is $3.99? FINALLY, I've been waiting for this game to drop. My time has come :D

EDIT:

I saw TLOU for $7.99 after clicking on your link. I'm guess that would be the American price since we don't have it that good.

Screw Knack. 100% the month after I finally buy Knack it'll be on PS+.

I've been mildly tempted a couple of times, but I think the actual impulse price for me is around $5. But even at that price, I agree. I would rather save the money and never play it because it does feel destined for Plus. On the other hand, I don't feel like it's a great personal loss if it never does hit the service.

Fug. Monster Hunter delayed in transit, why Amazon went Purolator this time instead of the usual I dunno. I have Prime too. Never returned anything to Amazon but if it doesn't get here tonight I'm going digital and returning it.

Has anyone here used Kinek? It's a parcel holding service that gives Canadians a postal address on the other side of the US border. They have affiliated warehouses all over. You ship to the Kinek branch nearest you, then drive down and pick up your package, and pay duty when coming back into Canada.

Seems legit from the Googling I've done, but I'd be interested to know if anyone from GAF has any experiences with it.

I've been using it for a few years. My Kineck place is a lumber/hardware store.

Every time I pass US customs and they ask where I'm going and for what reason, they look at me funny lol

I have used CBI USA (niagara) for years without issue, even had an exercise bike delivered there. Highly recommended.

Very good news - thanks guys. Kinek seems to be the best bet for me (easier to sign up for), so I'll ship to them and see how they fare. Glad there's an alternative out there too though.

Did that poster actually contact them about it? And even if s/he did, I think it's fair because you would expect a major retailer to know how to do basic math. The poster acknowledges it's not a lot of money but it's still a stupid situation. And it is.

Is it really unreasonable to want a company that's taking your money to understand how to apply discounts? It's REALLY basic math. It doesn't concern you that they can't do basic calculations?

I don't see how or why anyone should feel bad about a company taking more money than they should from a customer.

It's also not how it worked up until a weeks or months ago. So this sudden, unexpected, and not clearly explained change would certainly upset some people.

So I bought something from Amazon recently and of course they used purolator. Shipped this monday with an estimated delivery of yesterday. Never came and now today the purolator tracker has literally no info on when it'll come. I can't wait till Canada Post is back. :/

It doesn't REALLY concern me, I mean there isn't actually anyone over there calculating everything lol, it's an algorithm and i'm guessing the 20% didn't end up giving a round number on a couple of items so it just adjusted it automatically. I mean sure you can call them and complain about it, it's your money and it's your right, i'm just saying that this level of splitting hairs is beyond my personal "common sense" line. Much like when I worked in retail and people came back to the store because they lost 3 cents on a bottle of juice. It's their right, but I still think it's ridiculous and a waste of time

anyway all of this was just because I feel like people go a little overboard in this thread sometimes, Pokemon could be free and at least one person would complain about not getting the 20% off $0

It's also not how it worked up until a weeks or months ago. So this sudden, unexpected, and not clearly explained change would certainly upset some people.

I didn't follow everything, but i'm fairly sure a good percentage of people complaining were in the wrong

Wallet was stolen. Thank god I'm broke, had no cash, and all cards inside have been dealt with. However, I lost my precious TTC Token-holder card. Can't buy them anymore, since they closed shop. (These things right here, if you don't know what I'm talking about: http://tokencard.ca/)

Sorry for the non-game related post, TorontoGAF: but is there any card-sized type case I can use to hold token for TTC? Or, at least an equally convenient way to hold tokens?

Is that date confirmed for S;G 0? Don't really care about the others. :p

Yeah, a similar thing happened with me. My guaranteed delivery date is today, and there is no sign of my package. Of course the tracking number that I have blows up the Purolator tracking site, so I have no idea where my package is.

Got a response from a Purolator "tracing specialist", asking the content of the 4 packages they lost.

Since I wasn't ordering anything embarrassing like dildos or adult coloring books, I told them. Still felt kinda weird divulging what I ordered, though.

Yes it's a programming error. Amazon should be made aware of it and they should fix it. But when contacted the representatives are insisting it's calculated correctly when it's clearly not. I'm not getting bent out of shape over a few dollars here and there. I'm concerned that Amazon doesn't know how to do math (their programmers or their representatives) and when called out on it they insist that 1.97 is 20% of 49.96.

There's clearly a problem with their algorithm and I'd sleep a lot better if they fixed it. I don't want to make a habit out of overpaying for things and just shrugging it off because "it's just a couple dollars and it's just video games". Common sense to me would be that people make sure they fix it. Because proper math is pretty important when dealing with money.

We are in a thread where people complain to no ends about shipping and seem to be glued to the shipping progress. There will always be people not content to anything and will need to vent or whine about something. It is ridiculous and those people should be aware that for instance, Amazon is tracking people who are getting all these constant changes made and will say no eventually and will gladly lose your business. I'm not here to defend these companies, just annoyed at what this thread has become.

To be clear I am 100% vehemently against the shenanigans people were pulling to get brand new games for $20 by spamming support until they got a rep to make a mistake. In fact I think that's the entire cause for why E3 this year has bad math.

But the discounts are not properly applied this year and that is something to be concerned about. This is a totally different issue than certain posters in this thread who were essentially scamming Amazon by having them adjust prices to too low or adding games to orders with discounts that weren't eligible. I hate those people and blame them for this mess.

What's going on with Pokémon Sun/Moon? My old pre-order is still at 49.99 each, is there some sort of deal now? (And on Yokai Watch 2 also?)

The product page now says "price hidden". ?_?

my pokemon are at $39.99, but FF12 still isn't fixed. x.x

Contemplating keeping both Pokemons, assuming I can afford it, so that's a plus.

Pokemon dropped in price from when people pre-ordered it during E3. But they dropped the discount by the same amount, so the discount effectively ate the price drop and people were no longer getting 20% off that the E3 deal promised.

After a ton of complaining, it seems they're trying to fix it by adjusting the price of existing orders to 39.99. If you ordered during E3, I think it should be adjusted to 39.99 eventually. The discount gets removed after the adjustment though.

There are other games that dropped price and had the discount eaten too. Yo-kai Watch 2 is another one.

Any recommendation for a HDR 4K TV? I'm guessing HDR is the must have right now. I'm looking at around 55" so I'm eyeing the xbr55x850d, anyone have any experience with that model?

Also when I was looking around how come most samsung model have a big difference in US and Canadian prices? It's almost 2x more (msrp), the US price was liek $1,000 while canadian one was like $1,800-2,000. It's only for samsung tv. The other brands only have a slight difference.

Read about xbr models, they seem great (and popular in canada in particular, probably cuz of our lack of selection of other brands in general). Over 30 years, ive never known a sony tv to have anything less than an average picture. I have a low end sony lcd and the picture is outstanding for gaming. So i trust their 4k tv models.

Have a couple friends wih vizio, seems happy. I know a company that bought sharp tvs, high end, also very nice.

I hear u about the price diff south, for the insane $ savings, even if you eventually need a repair not covered by a warranty, it is still worth it.
