I use a phpbb forum, and I've installed some mods in it ..

now, after backing it up, I try to restore it and it gives some kinda error...

will copying the WHOLE forum folder and uploading it again in the new forum work ?

Nope.

phpBB uses MySQL. MySQL is a database. It stores stuff in its own folders. You have to go into the database area on your box's management menus or phpMyAdmin or the MySQL console on the terminal to back up that stuff. This is called dumping your database (i.e. dumping to a file or some such). See search link:

Read that stuff. You got phpBB setup and running in the first place, so I imagine you can figure it out.

I used the back-up thing .. and I have a zipped file of it ..

I'm sure there's someting wrong with my forum, but I can't afford to make a new, its just so many stuff that I dont wanna loose..

I tried backing up another forum, and it worked fine when I've restored it .. but mine is kinda screwed up for some reason ..


is there ANY way to back up the thing manually or somehing ?
