Who else is actually doing this?

Now I love my DS and if I could afford it, I'd keep it.

Problem is, the PSP is talking to me in my sleep. I really need it.

It's so sexy and beautiful........that screen....being able to watch movies on it.....
wipeout, twisted metal...online head to head gaming....

My wife. She wouldn't understand. There's no way I can go out and drop a few hundred dollars on another handheld system. If I do this, it should keep her off my back.

Fellow rich GAFer's please check my auction out and help me join the ranks of
the Royal Order Of PSP Owners! :D

Thanks for looking!

Please post another thread when you rebuy a DS, or if E3 has you feeling any tinges of regret.

Seriously though, nothing else you can sell? A dying console for instance? One that hasn't just been born?

I've always thought selling one console to buy another(in the same generation) was a bad idea.

Come E3, I think the Sony PSP is *really* gonna take off. I doubt I'll have regrets departing with my DS. :(

I'll see what Nintendo has in store for the Gameboy Advance 2(It'd better be on par or more powerful than the PSP!)

Well even if I didn't like the machine, I know I'd at least be interested in Nintendo's online plan, what Nintendo games that involves, the PlayOnline Square-Enix game that'll be on it, among several other things. I'd be interested in the first new 2d mario bros game since the N64 launched. I'd be interested to see if publishers recognise the possibilities that could be realised on DS with paint programs, chat programs, RTS, Point & Click adventures, and various other things that are best suited.

I'd certainly wait til the late removed GBA projects ported to DS were a thing of the past.

That's just me though. If you need the doh, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Now having both a PSP and DS, though I hate selling systems, I can't fault you for wanting to do this. Lumines and Wipeout Pure are really just a euphoric combination, and the system itself is downright orgasmic. For the time being, I am holding on to my DS, but I am still considering eBaying it as well for PSP games. Good luck, Monsieur Roboto.

After playing with the psp, the ds feels like a joke imo.

I'm in the same boat - PSP really makes the DS look like garbage. I'll hold on till I get back from E3 and see if the line up improves, but it would have to be a GREAT lineup for me to hold on to it - and me doubts that's going to be the case.

I WANT to like my DS..but god damn, the PSP destroys it in every case right now imo (better games, bigger/better screen, better graphics, etc. etc. etc.). It's just no contest.

Too bad they don't have any smiley's that would be an accurate representation of how I feel about this thread.

I'd sell my DS if the screen wasn't so good for playing normal GBA games. Then again, I haven't touched a GBA game since the PSP came o-- well, you know. I'm going to leave before I get jumped

I just can't imagine being more impressed with handheld versions of medicore console games. Console games I refuse to buy at a $19.99 price point every time I go to Target.

I'm interested in interesting titles and new ways of playing. I'm interested in pick-up-and-play titles. Advance Wars, Kirby, Wario Wario, WHEEEE! DS isn't a joke, it's just not teh GRAPHICS machine.

:lol

that reads like some kind of lame Nintendo PR release.

Yeah what kind of forum only has happy emoticons and no smarmy rolleyes? :D

It might be a bit dry in DSville now (although I don't think much in the PSP line up is much to write home about either), but I can only go on record as saying anyone who likes good games will own both machines in a few months time.

... and I know there are a lot of people here who have sold and rebought other consoles before: Xboxen, Cuben, N64/PlayStation etc.

But you dont see anything wrong with buying rehashes that you can now play with a stylus? And for the record, I dont recall seeing Metal Gear Acid on a console before. I would go play the psp before passing such ridiculous judgement on it.

That's all I'm gonna say about that - don't want to derail the thread.

Oh, boy. Here we go again with the delusion...

Stick to worrying about what your neighbors are doing.. ok?

Should have done it a week ago. But I don't think you'll regret it, it's incredibly better.

Yup... actually, you should've done it back near New Year's when they were still going for over MSRP :)

Selling systems makes sense when you can get near what you paid for it.

Okay, you go rub Kirby and I'll be busting out 1080-degree front-flip roastbeefs as TONY motherfucking HAWK.

Who would want to play Tony Hawk - a handheld version of a mediocre console game not worth $19.99? The future of gaming is DRAWING RAINBOWS, and don't you forget it!

This is going to get ugly real quick. Honestly man, if you want to put your DS on eBay...Do it. Don't go out of your way to create a thread on a gaming specific forum just to get a reaction. I honestly believe you're looking to start trouble.

I can see kind of where he's coming from... you guys might be leaping all over him for the reason being that you genuinely feel the games are good, but from his point of view:

Ridge Racer, WipeOut, and Tony Hawks Pro Skater weren't AAA games that sold systems in the home console space.

Is that so wrong?
I'm not saying the PSP games are bad... I'm very interested in WipeOut Pure for example. And I think Lumines looks and sounds great from everything you guys have said.

Other than that though, I'm not overjoyed myself. Metal Gear Acid looks truely disappointing to me... I don't have the patience for that kind of game. This must mean I don't believe in the one console handheld future either... so does everyone wanna quote me now and moan about the shit I just said?

Opinions. Asses.

And you're fucking telling him to play the games before he moans about them then deriding DS games before they're even released because they contain fucking rainbows? RICH.

The PSP has one title that interests me with Lumines, but I refuse to pay 290 to play it. The DS has 3 titles out that do. I'm glad you all like the PSP, it's just not for me.

I won't be selling my DS to fund PSP purchases. I've had a lot of fun with it, and there are a good number of titles coming down the pipe that I really need to play. I'm still intrigued by what devs will do with what's been put into the machine, even moreso now that it's going online (with Nintendo games no less!).

Might seem odd to the one-company/one-platform advocates, but I honestly think PSP and DS are so different from each other that one would not make an effective replacement for the other. That's my view on it anyway.

Kirby is for 2 year olds. I played Advance Wars on GBA...twice. Adding stylus supports does not make it interesting imo. Wario Ware... ok, I'll give you that, and even Feel the Magic while I'm feeling generous. But so far DS isn't as innovative as everyone thought it was going to be - and there are simply too few games right now. Imo, I think they are going to hit a brick wall with this stylus, dual screen stuff sooner then everyone thinks.

And then you will run to the PSP :D

Don't want to derail this thread either. Just my 2 cents.

So what do you think you can get for a DS now?

These three titles were unknown factors at the launch of the PSOne... Hawk has drawn a massive following over the years, Wipeout has a huge underground following and RR does too.

These 3 titles have become known quantities... they weren't known quantities back in the PSOne's time table... 2 of the 3 have faltered in their most recent releases but still have strong followings.

I'd say simply writing them off as console ports does them a disservice, especially if you haven't played them.... and people who hate on MGA can kiss my ass. ;)

er...kirby is for 2 year olds? they arent just adding stylus support to advanced wars either.

i think if ds ever hits a brick wall the first thing they would run to is the ps3 not another portable.

Metal Gear Acid fuckin' ROCKS.

In all honesty, I'm sure it does. But it looks a bit SRPG to me, when I was expecting tried and true Metal Gear Solid style play, which I've been revisiting lately and I've loved every moment. I think it's great they did something different... but the nature of the game as I understand it is something I don't normally like.

I've only read a few reviews, and watched a few movies. I still wanna try the game myself. I won't know how I really feel until then. But yeah, as it stands, I'm a little disappointed.

It looks like a SRPG... because that's really what it is IMO... a SRPG w/Cards. But the story, characterizations, looks... straight out of the MG series.

You can get the GBA version of Tony Hawk 2 for 30 bucks! Play it on the DS! Portable bliss! Pfft who cares about the getting a portable version that is just like the console version with 4 new stages!! You can have this instead!

Cheap twings and twangs for sound effects along with horrible midi music also included! Get yours now!

Also, congrats on getting your future PSP! It is amazing beyond belief!

I had 2 DS' prior to getting my PSP yesterday. If my wife wasn't hopelessly addicted to Zoo Keeper and Yoshi Touch 'n Go, I would sell the other DS as well.

Seriously, I don't blame anyone for selling their DS to fund for a PSP. I'm really looking forward to Meteos and some of the strategy/rpg games on the system, but once you get a PSP in your hands - it's really hard to go back to playing with your DS no matter how fancy you find the stylus to be.

Re: Innovation w/ the DS, I have officially been sold on the concept of the "touch" as a new way to play games. The reason for this is none other than:

Yoshi Touch and Go.

At first I was disappointed with the size and scope of the game, but that does not stop me from thinking about the game when I'm not playing it. The same thing happened to me with Tetris Attack (when I'd close my eyes to sleep, I could still see the blocks in my mind).

Yes, the game is not huge on different levels and whatnot, but by the same token, neither is Tetris. Perhaps we are mistaken by approaching the game as if it were a platformer... thinking about it more along the lines of a puzzle-game, the scope seems more appropriate... it also makes sense that the game does not feature very much at all along the lines of a story or plot.

So, this game has me looking forward to Kirby Touch - that game *does* seem to be a platformer - and whatever else people can come up with.

Oh, and discovering you could blow on the mic to erase clouds brought a smile to my face... it just makes sense.

Am I allowed to like both the DS and the PSP or does that break the TOS or something, cause I'm just seeing a lot of decisiveness here...

NO, this is WAR.....

We "multi console/handheld" owners are the green party.

PSP is a sexy machine, but the load time kill a quick shit and play in the bathroom, by the time the game loads your already wiping.

DS is still the more innovative machine, it just needs the software to back it up.
