Capture Card Help

Hey guys, I'm having some computer tech trouble and figured you guys could help me. So I bought a Capture Card for my computer, to make videos of Xbox games...Mainly so I could make a Halo 2 montage, but anyway.

I got it installed...Installed the drivers...And I'm using the program CyberLink Power Director and CyberLink Producer...But I can only see what I'm capturing at like 1/8 the size of the monitor. Is there a way to stretch it to the size of the entire monitor? I know it will eat up a lot of space, but I'll shrink the video down later...But I can't play the freaking game that small...

Also, I can't hear the audio...It's way too low. I got the programs audio cranked way up, and it BARELY even comes out of my speakers which are cranked all the way up.

So using the programs I have can anyone help me capture a larger video? Or maybe point me in the direction of another video capturing program that will let me? Oh and I'm using S-Video in case you need to know.

Thanks in advance!

All right! D-Scaler was just the program I was looking for! Thanks for hooking me up with that.

Now, one more question...I can't get the audio to work! No matter what I do, no audio...What do I have to have hooked up to what to make it work?

Plug it into your Line-In slot?

Audio out from the XBox to the computer's line in (not the microphone jack.) Make sure you've got Windows' mixer set to take the audio from that input.

Jack Flack always escapes!
Yes, make sure your recording properties in Volume Control are set to record from that input. If not, you can hear it when you are recording, but it wont record.

Damn it. That's what the guy at the store told me. "Don't worry about anything, just plug this in, and you'll be fine." Love those guys.

Anyway, I changed something on my Sound Card to accept input from it...I'm about to set it up again. We'll have to see what happens.

Thanks to all you guys for your help.

Hey, if you're gonna pass the time, may as well fuck with the n00bs!

D-scaler won't recognise sound from my capture chipset either.

I have all of my consoles connected to a switch. A bit like this one, but not quite:

Coming out of that is just one set of RCA cables which I have to connect to my PC. Obviously if you're using S Video, the video part of all of this doesn't apply to you. But I dunno if you might have to connect your audio straight into your sound card like I do (bypassing the capture card entirely for audio).

I have to use a [ male > female ] adaptor on the red/white phono leads of the consoles... ie. This (x2):

...and then I use a [ RCA > 3.5mm ] cable to wire the consoles/adaptor upto my PC.

That goes into my sound card's line-in/mic and I record sound from that.

A simpler solution using only one cable would be a female phono > 3.5mm

For Christ sakes! I've put like $40 into this stuff and I can't even get audio...And it's damn near impossible to just put it into a TV the way my computer and Xbox are set up, and the length of the cords and stuff.

So, let me get this straight...

My instructions that came with the card tell me to run the cable from the Line In in the Sound Card, to the Audio Out in the Capture Card. Is that correct?

I don't even care if it records the sound I just need to HEAR it to play. I'm going to add music to my montage anyway.

No. If you're going to loop it like that, send the audio into the capture card, and then plug the capture card's output into your sound card's input. The line-in, not the microphone jack.
