OMFG HOLY MOTHER OF MARY IN HEAVEN I CANT BELIEVE IT WTF WHERE ARE MY SEDATIVES AAAAHHH
The car I just bought already has a Bose Premium Sound system stereo installed and it sounds pretty good, but it doesn't have a sub and I am looking for just a bit more power. I do not have a sub, but I do have one in my other Benz. The thing is, I hear that non-Bose components are not compatible with Bose stuff.

It appears I would have to replace everything. Therefore I'm wondering what are some of the top-of-the-line stereos/speakers/amps/subs to get for a nice tight, clean sound? I mostly listen to British alternative rock and some Dance/Trance/House stuff in the car. Bass is important but not as much as sound clarity/quality.

I hear JL Audio is the shit. Agree/Disagree? What about Bose? Alpine? M.A. Audio? Pioneer? Blackace don't you and your brother run a sound install shop here in L.A.?

Sp0rsks where did you get your sounds? Doesn't your cousin run a shop somewhere around here?

Alpine
Alpine
Alpine

Sorry, but I just freaking love Alpine gear.

JL Audio is indeed badass.

Bose is pure shit, I'm sorry. Well, it's better than nothing, but not by much.

WHY?!? why do you need more power? is it that hard to listen to your damn music at a volume that doesn't involve anyone else around you? I know you can't hear my stereo, what makes you think I want to hear yours?

Who the FUCK are you and what are you doing in my thread??? Your trolling attempts suck major ass. You're assuming that because I want a bit more bass in my car that I'm some thug driving around bumping hip-hop to maximum volume levels and irritating other drivers around me. Let me tell you something buddy....I fucking HATE those bastards. I hate being stuck at a light hearing some hardcore thug bumping the latest Snoop Dogg and interefering with my listening enjoyment!!! All I want is put a little more bass into some of the older rock songs I love from the 80s that were'n't recording with enough bass, like It's My Life from TalkTalk, Promised You A Miracle from Simple Minds, The One Thing from INXS and Police On My Back from The Clash. So STFU before coming in and trolling a thread and makng assumptions about someone you know NOTHING about

I used to think Alpine was the Nike of car stereos. I recently had bought a Sony that was silver a few days later found an Alpine that was Grey for the same price. The grey better matche for my car so I returned the Sony and grabbed the Alpine. Wow, Alpine kicked the crap out of the Sony deck with the same features and price point. Alpine gets my vote I'l never go back.

Uhhh...way to be a generalizing penis. Have you ever listened to music in a car with and without a subwoofer? You're missing half of the sound without a sub woofer.

Try to get a Rockford Fosgate amp, probably the best in the biz. The sub you get also matters, try not to get cheaped out of buying a good sub. I got dual 12 Kickers, each hit at 800 watts, but I only got a 1200 watt amp. Speakers you get will also matter, especially if you ain't buying a seperate amp for your speakers. Some people just use their head unit for the speakers, but head units can only push 200 watts, while amps made for speakers push 1000.

Guys....I'd like to bring up an important concern regarding regarding subs.

In my last car, I had an alpine sub that very powerful. I got it installed at Ciruit City by a guy name Mike. The thing that has annoyed me about the sound with a subwoofer, is that the bass response is slightly delayed compared to the bass coming from the main speakers. This may not be important to people that listen to hip hop but for those of us that like dance/techno music this is crucial. My question is why is there a delay and what can be done about it? I was thinking about getting smaller Bazooka toobs and thinking that maybe the fact that they're smaller and in an enclosed tube it will result in zero bass delay. Is this delay more to do with the amp, the kind of cables, or the sub itself? Please comment Method Man, Error, etc

Thanks I've heard good things about Rockford Fosgate. :)

Even though i'm not downplaying circuit city or nothing, it's almost always better to get it done at a stereo store (audio car sales or someshit). They probably have a ton around you somewhere, and when you find one you can get way better deals then any other way, cuz they get the prices wholesale + they give you package deals.

I actually got two JL W5's, but it's in a camry so it hits hard as hell. :lol

oh yeah, btw i think it might just be the wiring that is causing the delay.

what makes you say this? Don't you have a delay in your ride?

You're both half right. to explain, my neighbor's son like to sit in his car and listen to his music at all hours of the day. The cops won't do anything about it and it's to the point where any bass can piss me off.

plus I was awake all night with my son. I get a little cranky around 2:24 a.m.

OTOH, Bose should do you fine for bass. that's about all the system does right from my experience. Infinity sounds better to me.

Hi guys. Just an update. I've decided to postpone pulling out my Bose stock stereo and replacing it with another brand. I initially wanted to get a different stereo because I couldn't stand being limited to a 6 disc CD changer. But being that the Bose doesn't have a line or Aux input, I wanted to get one that had one. Fortunately, yesterday I realized I had a cassette adaptor in my other car. I hooked it up and it worked! Sound quality from my Creative Jukebox 3 mp3 player is really good!

Guys....in your opinion, how would you rate the sound quality of a direct connection from a line in or aux input converter, to that of a cassette adaptor like the one shown below?

cassetteadaptormain.jpg

The adaptor I got from radio shack is not the one shown in the pic, but I am wondering if the sound quality varies from casstette adaptor to cassette adaptor?

Cassette adapters bite dick. Auxiliary boxes via CD player will sound flawless, albeit slightly lower under full volume -- but that can be fixed with a cable. I have my PSP neatly connected via AUX and it sounds beautiful through my Bose.

Now as far as car stereos, Eclipse is the ideal brand to look at. Nothing else compares.

Period.

IsamuR, the sound quality will be noticeable degraded, depending on how revealing your speakers are. If they are detailed in the high-end (not something Bose is known for... "No highs, no lows, must be Bose!"), it's going to sound like crap.

Sounds fine to me though....*shrug*...

you havn't heard it in a car with a system have you?

btw, this song stay fly by 3 6 mafia is incredibly addicting

I STAY FLY I I I I I II I I I TILL I DIE II I I I II I

bumps hard too

The clarity of Halcyon+On+On from Orbital is fucking AMAZING in my car via the cassette adaptor!

:lol You ask for whats a good stereo brand, yell at someone for saying you don't need more pwer and then buy a cassette adapter?
