Castlevania Order of Ecclesia Trailer @ Official Site (First Gameplay vid!)

the fuck happened to youtube?

there's no way to reduce the size of the vid (down to 100%) like there used to for a better image? ugh.

but yeah, nice trailer.

The pics thread might be getting too big for it's own good anyway. Anyway the trailer looks okay, there seems more "action" this time round in terms of evasion, platforming, etc but that could just be the trailer. The main girl reminds me of Ashley from Vagrant Story, while the guy reminds me of Balthier. Not sure if I really want this...

duckroll, LOL yes I got the Balthier vibe from the gunman as well... I was like wtf!?

But the trailer is getting me hyped!

Daymn that looks nice.

Definite improvement in artstyle over PoR. I hope they also improve on the level designs.

This game just looks really cool to me, which is weird considering how indifferent I am to the other CV games.

The music during the gameplay is freaking epic. I love the emphasis on more platforming and I love the female lead. If I made a dream Castlevania game this would be exactly it. Only my dream game took place in the future. :lol

I'm a little excited for this, against my better judgment. Fall of 2008 means a two year development cycle (assuming they started just after Portrait of Ruin), so that's good.

Really? Why, exactly?

Looks like another handheld CV. I'll be there, and there was some neat attacks, but I wanna hear what's NEW this time.

Actually I have no idea why I said Ashley. I meant Sydney. The entire start of the trailer and the glowing tattoo on her back really reminded me of the Bloodsin. It didn't help that Sydney was kinda hot to begin with, even as a man....

The music and art are awesome, and glyph system looks much more varying than the weapon system from the last few installments. Very excited about it now! :D

The town reminded me of Vagrant Story as well. Now all we need is some wyverns and dragons.

ahhh, very good art and music. whos is doing the character design? im getting fumi ishikawa vibes, dunno why.

now somebody needs to remind them to implement a higher level of difficuly. no more wussy DS games please.

I'm not really sure, honestly. The cool art and town/NPC thing helps, as does the female protagonist, but it's still hard to say exactly. It just looks cool and fun, and that's what matters.

How I'll feel about it when I actually play it is another thing entirely.

I've been a bit out of the loop on the details. What's the level design like in this particular installment? Is it back to Metroidvania-style or is it more linear?

Is it this hard to look at the trailer? Sorry, if I'm grumpy. Eurogamer's MGS4 review makes me wanna punch shit.

Watched the trailer, and then watched again after looking at your comment.

Not sure I can find any specific that would lead me to either conclusion. No maps or anything. Looked like there were a couple branching paths a couple of times but that could mean anything.

Yes, please! Did they have to spoil the crab fight, though? That seemed neat.

A gian.... oh god somebody please stop me this is too obvious.

The game looks excellent, the graphics look amazing for the DS and I am loving the female lead.

I sound like a broken record when I say this is my most anticipated DS game (since I already beat FF4 and Tales of Innocence for the DS).

As I understand it, it's still a Metroidvania in that you backtrack and get new abilities, but instead of a huge castle of directly connected areas you warp to them from a hub.

I am really really liking this new art direction. Does anybody know the artist's full name or where I can see more?

Interesting.

Maybe a Wii game that looks like that cel-shaded intro for the DS in the future (pretty plz).

Seemed to reveal a lot in there but I'm hyper as always for a new CV. The protagonist looks really interesting in this one for once.

Ok i havent kept up with this game, but it looks pretty much like every other handheld castlevania. What i dont get though is the hate for PoR, the soul system is a much more heinous thing.

Nooo, that was like crack for me lol.

The video in the beginning looks a bit like fan-made stuff with all the 3-frame animations and pans, but at least it looks like awesome fan-made stuff. I'll buy this of course.
