Cel-Shaded Mario Please?

Dear Reggie,

So now that Zelda is more realistic, can we have a cel-shaded mario pretty pretty please with mushrooms on top?

Kthx,
Me

I always thought Mario would work so much better cell-shaded.

I'll probably get stoned for this, but I'd like a 3rd person cell-shaded Metroid myself, based off the comic book stylings of Fusion/Zero Mission.

Dear akascream,

Thanks for your continued interest in Nintendo products. In response to your question, I can only say that mushrooms will make all of your games look cel shaded.

Sincerely,
akascream

P.S. Sorry, I took your name by accident. At least I didn't kick your ass.

Make a realistic Mario game with overweight Italian plumber stereotypes. And a gruffer sounding NY style voice over. "Hey shut up. Itsa me Mario mofo."

I just hope Miyamoto played a little Maximo and realised that the style of level design in this game would be perfect for Mario and MAXIMO IS FULL OF POWER UPS - wich is supposed to be the heart of Mario gameplay and not having a fucking water machine.

Although it doesn't sound too creative, I'd love to see a cel-shaded and updated Super Mario Bros. 3 in 3D. I think a re-make in 3D would be amazing if done right, and the size of the world could easily make it the largest mario game ever.

it coud, if it existed
No, pay attention Mr "h4xor". "128 Marios" not "Mario 128". Tech demo at GC unveiling, with 128 Mario models running around a circular gameboard. Yes, there was a cell-shaded part, among other things.

mario 128..128 Marios. where the hell did that number come from anyway. why not something that ends in 0

Please please please Ninty. No more Cell shading.

It looks like shite...

Maybe because he (Miyamoto) actually throw 128 Mario clones on the screen? It's a joke... It follows Super Mario 64... It suposed to be funny in a japanese way...

Download the movies here (and it's free):

EDIT: I don't see the cel-shaded part, but I swear I saw pictures of it somewhere...

I just hope the next Mario game is a little more linear than the last two. The goal of beating a level in Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine is pretty simple - find the shine/star for each mission. I'd like to see the series go back to the way it was. That is, the object of the level is simply to dodge countless obsticles and enemies and get to the end of the level. Basically what I'm thinking of is Mario 3/Mario World-style levels in 3D. You can do it, Nintendo.

I've also gotten pretty tired of the hub overworld idea where you go through a painting or whatever. I hate having to exit the level then having to jump back in. Just go back to having an overworld map ala Mario 3.

I think it would be cool to see it as all one big world with focus points where the platforming would be difficult and have a reward that maybe unlocks a new area or a perminant pwing or tinuki suit you could use (with some kind of activation collectable item) somewhere else to get to a new area.

Sort of metroid meets mario? =)

What is the next Mario game was free roaming like GTA?

Something to chew on.

Hehe, yeah.

That could be really cool. I wish somebody would make a MMO platformer similar to that.

Also, wasn't somebody working on a plugin for N64 emulators to make those games cell-shaded? I remember seeing some cool Mario 64 shots using it.

I want celda back :( (not that the new one doesn't look aces, I want both, is that a crime?)

I have mentioned the same thing before, third person is less of an issue for me, but I wanted it to have really clean ultra detailed environments with cel shaded characters and creatures. I think it would look nice.

I also want an animated series of metroid shorts as well, think aeon flux, short stories from her universe (except she wouldn't die everytime). so maybe I am just weird

i know this should be opinion, but you're wrong.

They should offer it as an option in the menu...

I'd love to see a Mario game that looks like the hand-drawn Mario art. You know, like on the Mario 2 and 3 carts, etc.

Only if it has enough style as:

And it's just Mario with cel-shaded graphics.

The best thing about Sly is that it feels like you're playing a cartoon.

Paper Mario features the best hand-drawn Mario IMO... Those small eyes are way better than the american-cartoonesque psychedelic eyes...
