English reports on this device don't say much about the 3d chipset other than to say it can do 1 million polys/sec. Anyone know if the chipset is LG custom or something they've licensed?

EDIT: Better article here - a little more detail.

"Hi, we are LG and here is a phone we made up just to make headlines at CES. We and samsung do it all the fucking time, and only ever sell 10,000 units in Korea because we have no way of manufacturing these crazy overspecced phones at a reasonable cost."

Its a nuts phone - nice spec, nice flip design, but you'll never see one in your local store.

According to the first engadget article, they appear to believe it to be a LG-developed chipset. Pretty sweet phone though, the basic design is pretty sweet for gaming. Hope we see more of that form factor in the future from other companies. Looks awfully thick though. After seeing the Motorola Razr everything looks like an old brick phone.

The tech will get there eventually. Phones will do it its just a matter of time. Right now this is for people who dont mind to carry around bricks :P

Anyone can make a featureless phone tiny, this LG looks terrific! I wonder if the cam is CCD or CMOS.

Sound like this thing is using the nVidia GoForce 3d 4500, just like the Gizmondo.

No, I don't have any hard evidence. Just going by the perfromance rating. nVidia guys at the show did say few other OEMs had the 4500 in their devices (mostly cell phones). This is a cell phone, right? ;)

BTW, 3D 4500 is bit of a weaksauce of a chip as a portable console. Fine for a cell phone no doubt, but doesn't even approach the feature set, IQ, and performance of DC. MBX is much stronger IMO.

I know that they plan to price it a premium, but I can't imagine a featureset like this will be considered "overspecced" for long. Meanwhile, Samsung just announced a cellphone with a six-way motion sensor that can detect motion such as using your finger to write a number in the air, or other gestures for shortcut actions.
