Last night unranked Vanderbilt defeated #1 Alabama, and the stadium went nuts.

People rushed the field:

Security helped them move the goalposts out of the stadium:

The marched the goalpost down Broadway in Nashville:

Then they dumped it in the Cumberland river:

Honestly a historic victory, funny enough both major college football teams in Tennessee were involve in upsets.

Massive win for Vandy. I get everything up to throwing the goalposts in the river. Guessing just drunk college kids or something.

Either way, the post-Nick Saban era is upon us.

I'm right there with you except I will never understand the appeal behind ripping out the goal post. Especially when it's their "home" stadium. That's a nice chunk of change Vandy now has to shell out to repair it.

Storming the field, cool, whatever. Property destruction just seems stupid.

Regardless, any time I get to see Alabama get knocked down a peg is a good day.

Yesterday was crazy including the Hogs taking down the Vols. :messenger_grinning_smiling: 7 out of the top 25 got upset.

I believe Vandy fans had every right to rush the fields, Hog fans should not have done it. Tennessee is on a current 4 game losing streak to the Hogs rankings be damned.

TBF, this only ever happens at home stadiums. You try this on the road and you'll end up in jail It is a rare event these days except for the biggest upsets, which this definitely applies. And being an Auburn grad, it is most satisfying seeing Bama being taken down a notch. Their own player throwing a hissy fit at the end of the game was hilarious.

I remember being at the Auburn Georgia game in the late 80s where Georgia fans rushed the field after upsetting Auburn. We turned the hoses on them. lol

I can understand tearing down the goalpost.

I can understand marching it down the street in an impromptu parade.

I can't understand dumping it in the river.

The distance between the river and Vanderbilt University is a good 40-50 minute walk, that took dedication

They didn't want to carry it back?

It's not like they could go far out, it was probably all of 3 feet from the water line :P

I caught the tale end of this game on my way home from vacation. Vandy being the first team to beat AL after Saban retires is amazing. Goal post got fished out and will be auctioned off to pay fine.

God I love seeing the gumps lose. Watching that goal post make its way down Broadway Saturday night was fucking great!
