I got grudge sucked!
The important thing is we're not over hyped when we play Florida State this time.

I know it will create a complete mess and likely eliminate the ACC from the playoff but I wouldn't mind if Clemson won that game. As long as neither team drops another game and its not a one sided blow out, the ACC may still be in it after all.

and if either can edge undefeated Duke in the ACCCG then they will surely get a huge boost in the rankings. Our NC is just a bit too weak this year

Go Pirates! This Saturday's game against UNC should be a barn-burner. Here's hoping we pull it out and maybe even get ranked for once!

You will beat the fuck out of them. Please beat the fuck out of them. That defense is awful but they may be fired up after last years ass kicking.

Go Big Red! I know playing a middling Miami team that nearly got shut out by Louisville isn't really a big deal, but I am excited to play them. I am hoping for a replay of weeks one and two, but a W is a W, meaning we should move up (despite what happened in the polls to tOSU and us this week, lol)

Miami Nebraska will always be a fun matchup.

Indeed. a 1995 Orange Bowl revival would be nice, I wouldn't mind a knock-down, drag out fight as long as the good guys leave the field with a W. :p

I fully expect us to drop out of the rankings with a win again, though.

I think this passage from one of our $9.99s sums up our defensive issues pretty well -

The defensive two-deep that Texas Tech includes in its weekly game notes include a nose tackle who was recruited to play defensive end in Ruffin McNeill's 4-3, a defensive end recruited to play outside linebacker in a James Willis' 3-4, an outside linebacker who started out at safety in Chad Glasgow's 4-2-5, an outside linebacker recruited to play safety in Art Kaufman's 4-3 and, oh by the way, an outside linebacker recruited to play running back.

So Rutgers had to apologize for offending Penn State for some Pedo State t-shirts?

Give me a break, I thought you were supposed to be Jersey.

Aren't you supposed to say "Hey, suck my nuts, you pedo pieces of trash, no disrespect."

Yes, I believe that would have been the proper response.

And no, Subitai, I don't want the entire university to shut down. I just would prefer it if you actually suffered some damage as a result of the Sandusky incident. I would prefer it if the media stopped being sympathetic to your university because they keep on forgetting that Paterno didn't do shit about a known serial pedophile. I would prefer it if Rutgers didn't apologize to Ped State for some shirts and banners that tell it how it is, rather than falling for that claptrap nonsense about how "it's demeaning to the victims," "what would your children think about that banner," or "offending Penn State." Screw offending Penn State. What's offensive is that they made the two worst possible hires they could possibly make for a school coming off the scandal they came off, and no one in the media cares about it. What's offensive is that their students continue to whine about how they are being punished unfairly. What's offensive is that they continue to claim that JoePa did no wrong. What's offensive is this truther bullshit about the Freeh report.

As far as I can tell, your university came out far better at the end of it with no real pain. You upgraded the head coaching position significantly, and it's not as if you would have gone to a bowl game with whoever Paterno choose as his handpicked successor anyway.

All you got was a slap in the wrist for the worst sports scandal in history. USC got far worse for a far milder crime.

Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Wvy7_Hvjdc

2:06-2:10. Moment of Silence for 9/11 interrupted by "We are PS" chant. If we are doing apologies for fan behavior, then where is Penn State's apology for that one. Oh right, it's not going to come, because it's a stupid thing to apologize for in the first place.

I don't see a reason to apologize for that picture at all.

Nothing wrong with pointing out that Penn State condoned child molestation when they looked the other way about Sandusky, and nothing wrong with pointing out that their alums continue to deny that Penn State did anything wrong.

I think the comments skewering this "non-scandal" on the Deadspin comments to this article are spot on.

"A good way to explain that banner BTW

"Well you see son, Penn State University, the University that banner is purporting to represent, condoned the abuse and molestation of children- some as young or younger than you!- for several years because they're terrible human beings. That banner serves as a reminder that nobody should ever forget that a group of monsters put a college football program ahead of protecting children.""

http://deadspin.com/rutgers-apologizes-for-fans-penn-state-signs-and-t-shir-1634943596/all

Or we can continue to be 75 year old men who apologize to everything and everyone except our fanbase for continuing to provide a shitty product that cares more about being "classy" then it does about wins, and failing to even provide the former. You can continue to care about this APR shit Draxal, that's fine. I don't. I want a winning product. I would rather be UNC than Rice University.

You know what, Rutgers does owe an apology. They owe an apology to me for continue to put out a crappy product and forcing me to accept it in the name of "doing things the right way."

Where the fuck is my apology Julie? Oh that's right, you got more volleyball players to abuse first, and some more PR boondoogles to involve yourself in as well. Maybe, after you get done commenting about getting some newspapers closed down, you'll finally make time for improving the product on the field.

The problem with that pic is that it's insanely offensive to victims of child abuse and makes light of the abuse and turns it into a joke to make fun of PSU fans.

I will bash PSU all the time, the way their punishment was handled compared to USC is the biggest joke in American sports, but that pic was out of line.

It's making fun of PSU as an institution of continual denial. That's fair game. I suppose you were also crying about the 2012 bowl game against Penn State where a fan came out as Pedo Bear with the sign, "keep quiet and don't tell anyone." If that banner is offensive, I don't see how that couldn't be characterized as offensive. It's not saying Penn State fans. It's clearly pointing out Penn State as an institution. It was fair game in 2012, it should be fair game in 2014.

In any case, you do know a variation of that same logo can be found on their Children's Hospital website?

You don't see how a banner that depicts child abuse could be offensive or hurtful to the victims? Pedobear at least wasn't a depiction of the act but rather an statement about the complicity of institution regarding said acts. There's a big difference there and if you can't see it that's on you. The fact that it is a variation of imagery used by their children's hospital is unimportant.

PSU getting their shit back is pretty ridiculous and shows once again the despicable nature of celebrity and sports fandom...

Now this I agree with wholeheartedly. Penn State has gotten off way too light for the disgusting shit they allowed to occur under their watch.

So apologize to victims of abuse, not to the university.

That's a fair point but not what I was arguing. I was simply arguing who the banner would be offensive to and why it was in poor taste. The university can go fuck itself as far as I care.

West virginia will be a huge test for OU. Maybe their hardest road game of the year.

I sure don't see how it is offensive to the victims. I'd be pleased, as a victim, that someone is continuing to point out the complete lack of institutional control and negligence that allowed the abuse to occur. I still think PSU got off lightly, and I in no way believe the leaders or diehard fans have learned any lesson for the ordeal.

PSU isn't that good. UCF would have won if they didn't have DiNovo, and Rutgers would have won if they had anybody but Nova in there. Rutgers dline was good, but tOSU's with Bosa and all, and MSU with Calhoun will eat Hack alive.

Honestly, only an idiot would think that banner isn't offensive to abuse victims. They're effectively being turned into a joke to make fun of Penn State. It's not about reminding anyone of anything, it's about making fun of Penn State. There's no deep message.

Penn State can go fuck itself, but so can the people hoisting that banner.

offense is taken, not given. still seems like an apt sign with a legitimate message.

I'd put a lot more stock in something being offensive to the victims if abuse victims are actually saying it's offensive. If it's just Penn State and their fans, of course it's offensive to them, their cult is being made fun of. I don't know how much of this is manufactured though so I'll just leave it at that for now.

Agreed. What strikes me as offensive is the Penn State crowd using victims as their legitimate cover to express their own saltiness at having the historically horrible scandal thrown right back into their faces on the regular. It's another tired manifestation of the bullshit persecution complex those crazy MFers have, needing to paint themselves as the victims. Appalling, really.

Also Gary Nova.

I'm still waiting for Julie Hermann to apologize to me and all other victims of The Turnova Era.
