LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Unless an attempt to keep it real goes very wrong, viewers will finally get to see new episodes of "Chappelle's Show" later this spring.

Comedy Central says the third season of "Chappelle's Show" will premiere at 10 p.m. ET Tuesday, May 31 -- more than a year after the last original episode aired. The new episodes will be the first under the comic's lucrative new deal with the network, which includes two seasons of the show and a development agreement.

Chappelle signed that deal, reportedly worth as much as $50 million, last August. Season three of the show was originally scheduled to premiere early this year, but a number of factors conspired to delay production.
For starters, Comedy Central said back in December, Chappelle and his fellow writers simply got a late start in writing new material for the show. Chappelle was then laid out by a nasty case of the flu, which combined with a built-in hiatus during the holiday season to delay things further.

There was, however, no talk of replacing Chappelle with Wayne Brady.

"Chappelle's Show" is one of the top-rated shows on Comedy Central -- season two episodes regularly drew more than 3 million viewers. It's also one of cable's biggest draws for the elusive young-male demographic. The show's DVD set is the top-selling TV title of all time.

ROCK!

Also, don't forget to pick up Season 2's DVD on May 24th, 1 week before Season 3's debut.

Whoa, didn't know Season 1 was biggest selling TV DVD (I doubt my purchase last month counted).

So gonna pick up season 2 and get ready for 3..and 4.

People will claim that Season 2 was great merely on the Charlie Murphy and Little John skits alone (not sure I agree... but for memorably quotes and what they did to our society... PERHAPS!)

Good thing (bad thing?) I'll have cable in my house at college next year. I'm still behind in everything seeing as how I've been in Scotland for a year. Can't wait to get back to the states... although... TV isn't a TRUELY good reason for that... but it's the simple things... the simple things.

Seriously... why did it take so long for the DVD? It makes no sense that a show so popular was delayed for so long. Ditto for the third season.

actually dave got sick pretty bad during the year and was under alot of stress to make the show as funny as it was last year. so i think they delayed the show and tehn the dvd's so they came out at about the same time like they were originally supposed to

Hehehe. Charlie Murphy gave the date when I went to see his standup a couple weeks ago. I guess I should've posted it, but for some reason, I didn't know it was a secret. : )

You know what i'm thinkin?

In one of Charlie's skits (something like Prince or Rick James) Eddie Murphy is actually going to come on the show.... That would be fucking awesome.

a) To coincide with the third season's debut. The shared publicity helps the sales of the second season and the ratings of the third.

b) Why rush? The second season repeats still do great business for Comedy Central.
