LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Unless an attempt to keep it real goes very wrong, viewers will finally get to see new episodes of "Chappelle's Show" later this spring.
Comedy Central says the third season of "Chappelle's Show" will premiere at 10 p.m. ET Tuesday, May 31 -- more than a year after the last original episode aired. The new episodes will be the first under the comic's lucrative new deal with the network, which includes two seasons of the show and a development agreement.
Chappelle signed that deal, reportedly worth as much as $50 million, last August. Season three of the show was originally scheduled to premiere early this year, but a number of factors conspired to delay production.
For starters, Comedy Central said back in December, Chappelle and his fellow writers simply got a late start in writing new material for the show. Chappelle was then laid out by a nasty case of the flu, which combined with a built-in hiatus during the holiday season to delay things further.
There was, however, no talk of replacing Chappelle with Wayne Brady.
"Chappelle's Show" is one of the top-rated shows on Comedy Central -- season two episodes regularly drew more than 3 million viewers. It's also one of cable's biggest draws for the elusive young-male demographic. The show's DVD set is the top-selling TV title of all time.
