Chat Control, the EUs super bill to monitor the web

It's Joever

Watch them find some loophole and completely ignore this. The EU is not a democracy

I'm gonna give you some news: Google SPIES everything you do in your computer and mobile, including whatsapp, Discord and forums like this.

In my Youtube feed I get video suggestions of stuff I have discussed on whatsapp. Not sure about Telegram, though.
I just want a good woman with big ass and big tits. I will treat her right. I forgot to mention, she has to be mindful and situationally aware and spatially aware, OR I DONT WANT IT. LOL. I come off like a Cunt, no? That's what I go through in the dating world.

Hey guys, remember a few days ago when I said EU isn't a democracy?

The EU is not a democracy because it's not a country. Now EU citizens do elect the parliament and the parliament selects the executive.

The problem with the EU is that it is too beholden to member states, which leads to excessive bureaucracy and the EU being as slow as molasses when it comes to significant change. It's also why people make fun of the EU about sending a strongly worded letter, because everyone keeps forgetting the EU is economic union and not a country. It has no ability to control or deploy member militaries.

Fixing some of these issues and making the EU more democratic is easy - just make it only beholden to EU citizens and not so much the individual EU governments. Streamline the process by how decisions get done and not needing to bow to the whims of every member state. But then you'd have every country bitching about sovereignty.

Imagine how the USA would operate if some decisions needed to be approved by every single state.

Pretty much. It's a broaden version of the former community for coal and steel which was remplaced by the european economic community which then changed its name to European Union and mostly aims to make more money for the members of the union.

I don't know about democracy in eu. I didn't vote for ursula in any election and I don't think comission has supreme court equivalent to keep it in check. I think growth per capita was also superior in most advanced economies in eu before it.

You don't vote for prime minister in most countries as well, but he/she is chosen by elected government.

I think you know who is going to be prime minister in most countries when you vote a party. And frankly I prefer from democracy perspective American system where president is directly voted and is fairly powerful.

But as you can see, when a crazy person takes that position - he basically acts like a King and don't give a fuck about any laws (internal or international).

That's why we need power checks in our systems (America in theory has them as well).

LMAO, quality European software engineering

There should be a cool down time for massive bills like this, the more it gets rejected, the longer the wait has to be before they can try again, otherwise it just stinks of corruption and railroading.

This is honestly some of the most depressing politics I have seen. Instead looking forward to rest of the coming decade, I fully see eu and member states devolving into russian type tyranny and following poverty

Chat Control 1.0 just passed the EU Parliament, 276 in favour, 314 against, 17 abstained, which allows mass scanning of private communications without a warrant. For now encrypted messages are not scanned.

Let me explain this for anyone not familiar with EU "democracy": They were forced to vote on it multiple times, it was voted against by the majority this time too but because they brought it as an "Emergency measure" 2/3 of the Parliament had to vote no so it "passed"

Democracy btw, not authoritarian btw

It's really sad seeing fascism coming back to Europe.
My country was under a fascist dictatorship for almost half a century and one of it's pillars was the control of what people said and thought about the government.
People were spied on, taps were place in phones, by a police force called the PIDE. Several people were arrested and some just "disappeared".

It passed.

The UK and EU asked for this. New encryption methods will show up to counter this eventually.

This is what bothers me about the EU. A majority voted against it, but it'll pass anyway. It makes a mockery of democracy.

The EU has far too much power, undemocratic and doesn't have the best interest of its member states. It should just be a free trade area with freedom of movement.

How long before this is used to see if people have "far" right memes on their phones?

That is the goal.

Don't forget that they put it to vote at a time when lots of MP are gone to holidays so it is easier to get a false majority.
Everything about this, and EU in general, screams denial of democracy but we will accept it, like we accepted the lisbon treaty passing without vote after europeans voted no to the Rome treaty.

Democracy is an illusion. More so than ever now.
