Indicators measure the nation's unemployment rate, consumer spending and other economic milestones, but Vice President Dick Cheney says it misses the hundreds of thousands who make money selling on eBay.

"That's a source that didn't even exist 10 years ago," Cheney told an audience in Cincinnati on Thursday. "Four hundred thousand people make some money trading on eBay."

I agree -- that was actually pretty clever. I had to double check to make sure the news story didn't come from a satire site after I read his quote.

As for this news: not surprising in the least. I don't think anything Cheney or most other members of this administration could say would surprise me anymore, unless it was an admission of what went wrong.

Not likely. Cheney has no presidential ambitions. Anyway, he would probably be eaten alive by, say, John McCain or Bill Frist in the Republican primaries. You have to remember that very few vice presidents are elected president in their own right or even try for the job. Bush Sr. and Gore are kind of flukes.

Yeah, Edwards is a shark. I don't think anyone is defending him on that. This has nothing to do with Edwards though besides the witty remark. eBay is a big distribution chain, but isn't anywhere near the size of a Walmart or something like that which employs a large number of people and accounts for massive amounts of revenue. eBay is the proverbial drop in the ocean. Cheney's comments were blatantly false and misleading...kinda like everything else he says. The guy's a prick. His parents named him well, they must have seen the evil inside him. Anyway, we can thank medical science for this douchebag. His cold, black heart stopped beating long ago, now he's just powered by evil. PEACE.
