Once upon a time, my father found a little stray kitty and brought him home.

Shortly thereafter, my father had to leave for a while (he didn’t live with me and my mother anymore at the time) and left the kitty with my grandparents.

My father never got the cat back. The cat slowly but surely turned into the biggest chonker I’ve ever seen in my life. As a young, slender cat he would jump on the kitchen table all the time. Later in his life, he could barely jump on the sofa. He was afraid of everything and everyone, yet he got so big he couldn’t even hide under the bed when he was scared. He would just get stuck trying.

Poor cat eventually developed trouble breathing and in the end fell sick and died a quick death. He did get to at least 10 years of age if I remember correctly, but most of his life was hindered by being so horribly fat.

Chonkers are a lot of fun to look at, but they’re not healthy. Don’t let your cat get fat.
