Chronicle meets Butterfly Effect: Welcome To Yesterday Trailer

What I wished Chronicle was, half found footage half theatrical. Finding reasons for someone to hold a camera in awkward moments kills the movie for me.

"From Producer Michael Bay"

and from the Producers of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Beverly Hills Cop 4 and Ninja Turtles 2k14.
and from the writer of Paranormal Activity 5.

Trailer started interesting but then just got dumb with the horrible unintentional side effects. But he appeared at his birthday without any side effects and that got "etched" in history before they even invent the time machine!

Makes no sense why the smiley face only shows up when he's drawing it, but yeah, he shows up at the party years before he even did it.

Inconsistent.

But I'll still watch it. When it's on NetFlix.

trailer felt like one of those company meetings where they discuss some completely different ideas and the guy in charge comes with: "hey you guys seen Primer?".
And then they make a lame rip-off because obviously having a good movie can't be tolerated so it has to be shat upon with a band of teenagers and OMG DRAAAAMAAAA.

Que Big Fucking Spider.

If you don't get the reference: Kevin Smith explains

I'll check it out, I'm a sucker for this kind of movie. Looks like the tentative release in now in October, so I'll keep an eye out for it.

Maybe all the terrible things that have happened since then were a consequence of that time travel?

E.g. 9/11 and any other disasters.

Looks dumb. Won't watch.

If they're following that model of time travel then all the changes they caused would have already happened before they travelled.

Man, that's a really, really creepy scenario seeing your own current self in a very old recording.

Anyways, looks like a really generic time-travel premise which in itself can be perfectly fine if executed well; if that's actually the case here though, color me surprised.

There's always a lot of inconsistencies in time-travel fiction but I still need a well thought out layout and continuity, even if you can rip it apart in a deeper analysis. I really couldn't stand Looper because it contradicted itself so heavily and didn't even try to come up with s.th. decent (and no, saying "let's not think about time travel because it makes no sense" in the movie doesn't mean it's okay).

I really enjoyed the anime series Steins;Gate because the ground rules for time-traveling in that one were actually well thought out and kept me interested.

Oh and yeh, this is another trailer that spoils just about the entire plot. Then again, does it matter? In pretty much all time-travel fiction you can expect the "oh no, because we used time-travel we fucked stuff up thanks to the butterfly effect!"

Yeah, these trailers are getting redonkulus.
Trailer should have consisted off "teens root around in attic, find time machine, have fun, then... something bad happens" without alluding to what the bad thing is.

Looks like a typical board room meeting movie, "Alright whats popular right now? Ok throw it all in call up micheal bay and lets get this ball rolling, cha ching!"

I'm predicting a Rotten Tomatoes score of 20% or so, but I like cool time travel stuff in movies. Just looks way too generic & badly acted.

That wasn't a trailer, that was a summary of the first two acts of the film.

I'll watch on Netflix.

Yeah; that really felt like it was giving away a shit load of stuff.

Agreed; I'm so fed up with the 'found footage' style where they find tenuous reasons for the characters to be holding the camera. It got pretty bad in Chronicle I thought, near the end when
Andrew steals all the tourist devices like iPads and whatnot and circles them around himself and Matt
so they can have shot/reverse shot conversations.

I didn't understand Primer. It seemed like it had some great ideas, but I don't have the time or patience to watch a film more than once in order to comprehend it, and as far as I could tell they
went back in time to punch someone at a party
.

Feels like I already watch this, I could probably guess the cliche ending. Also, this is what I hate about time travel movies. They always go back, do some cool stuff, OH RIPPLE EFFECTS!, and the later parts of the movie are them trying to undo everything. How about a time travel movie where everything works out :/
How about a movie that starts out with everything fucked, they go back and change things, and by the end of the movie we have the present day world.

"Hey! We just made a brake though in science and in our understanding of the universe....... Let dick around and party!"

I already want to punch every character in the face.

Eh, that character is obsessed with filming his life. Cameras are like a safety blanket for him, that scene isn't really all that out of character. In the action that follows, the "found footage" aspect becomes a little tenuous, but I was engrossed enough in the action/drama that my suspension of disbelief held. Still the best "found footage" style film I've seen.

I can't stand dumb teen movies of any sort. This looks to be an extra special case of dumb, and the trailer showed the entire movie anyway.

The latest Paranormal Activity movie is hilarious because of this (
it's a hilariously bad movie anyway
). Guy notices his dog is missing and hears the dog's barking coming from his late neighbour's home. He goes looking for the dog and brings his fucking camera with him (and holds it straight, in front of him, the entire time) because of reasons. :lol

They see evidence that they've time travelled BEFORE they time travel which means that everything that will happen has already happened. Therefore they cannot change everything, BUT that is exactly what they end up doing.

The filmmakers should actually put some thought into the internal logic of their movie.

Hot damn. So glad I passed on that one. I would have spent the whole movie wondering why

I prefer it that way, honestly. It's practically its own sub genre now, and a big conceit is that the characters have cameras. So lets stop coming up with half assed in story reasons for them, makes it worse imo.

To further clarify, I'd rather have no reason stated (other than the real world one i.e. it's that type of movie) than to have one character ask why and be given the aggrivating "because people will want know!" horseshit.
