Nintendo made a fairly big mistake in having 3 smaller games late 2025 (Hyrule Warriors, Kirby, Metroid). They should have gone for Switch 2017 strategy when they had Mario Odyssey as the holiday title. And it was the perfect opportunity because its Super Mario's 30th anniversary this year as well. Smaller games don't lead to people wanting to buy a new console. This was a failure of planning on Nintendo's part this year.
When all big third party games skip the system, that means Nintendo themselves need to step up with big releases, and they failed to do so.

Sony is really killing it, and will be very important for the future as with the new Ram and components prices introducing new hardware (GPUs, consoles) will be very difficult and the new multigeneration future Nishino told us will greatly benefit from a massive PS5 installed base.

I'd say that this is an expected collateral effect... SW2 did not have any official discounts and (Nintendo zealots be dammed) we do not have a MUST HAVE SW2 game today. I'm mean, will it make any difference if i buy Mario Kart World today or in January, for example?
PS: this is not flame war, Nintendo is extremely healthy at this moment, so a 'Breath of the Wild moment for SW2' is absolutelly not needed.

Lack of games I think, combined with the key card FUD. Anecdotally people see it as Switch Pro and it needs some heavy hitters soon. If they don't get announced by the end of the fiscal year I think Switch 2 will be a dud when it's all said and done.
