Circana: In the US, PS5 accounted for 47% of total Black Friday week hardware unit sales, Switch 2 for 24%, and NEX Playground for 14%

4.8 million units of something per year...

"Fushan aims to scale up to 4.8 million additional Xbox gaming devices as part of the permit, which likely includes Xbox Series X|S consoles, official Xbox controllers, accessories like the official Xbox headset, and possibly even Xbox Cloud Gaming server tech
Oh wow. This was the sole reason I doubted a potential hold on their next console. Your reading comprehension just sent that out the window. Now I don't know at all :pie_neutral:

Yikes on Xbox, but look--for a lot of folks right now, the economy is absolute dogshit.

Microsoft raised the price of Game Pass, their own systems(TWICE, with rumors of a third not long ago) and a myriad of their games are coming to PS5.

People are going to go for what the best deal is and $399 for a PS5(or less if you went preowned) compared to..what's a Series X now? $649? Almost PS5 Pro level price...damn.

The PS5 Pro was discounted to $649 during Black Friday

Where does this 35-7m number even come from. Just some bullshit one person said so they all followed and went with it ?

15-20m I'd believe.
Nah it's done better than that. As of October 2022 it was still the fastest selling Xbox. It was holiday 2022 onwards things started tanking. But it would have hit 20m by early 2023 at least.

37m is pure copium though. It'll be in the low 30's and with how it's selling currently will never hit 37m lifetime.

2024 sold 2M worldwide.
This year will probably be at least half of that.

Funny thing is that Xbox still sells more than steam deck. They are only a failure compared to what they could actually sell if their management team weren't complete retards all three of them.

So those surprise Cyber Monday switch2 bundle prices were driven by weaker sales in the prior week. Regardless the system does still appear to be selling well consistently. The price drop of shame I was hoping for is not going to happen.

The numbers are skewed because of the COVID chip crisis and Series S being the only console on the market for like a year and a half

Once PS5 became actually available to buy in 2023, they were killed.

So are you guys conceding that Welfare's numbers are credible after all? Or is he only credible when his numbers are negative for Xbox? :pie_thinking:
Let's put it this way: if Welfare rounds up every 5.5 and 6s to 10s, when he says "under 200k" it means it's disastrous in any case

Maybe you should get out more and do the same. It's healthy.
Are you saying my regular visits to CeX don't count?

Who was seriously expecting anything different? Black Friday played out exactly as expected for Xbox and yet people are clutching their pearls at the bad numbers.

Hardly a surprise, sternly devaluing a product and they talk about a future console or hybrid whatever and I'm supposed to be excited for it and with the same people overseeing it? No chance.

Black Friday is the peak sales period. They sold more earlier this year than during the one time in the year where people are waiting to buy new consoles. It is unseen an frankly a disaster.

Even the worse Xbox One sales period still had a good black Friday period

But Xbox weren't offering any sales and their consoles have never been more expensive, so what were people realistically expecting?
If they'd offered steep discounts and still sold poorly then I could agree but Xbox didn't participate in Black Friday at all. It's just another excuse for people to clutch pearls over Xbox.

The difference with the Xbox One period is that they were still actively trying to sell consoles and selling them at competitive prices.
I'm not saying I agree with their approach, but it is what it is.

It is a new low for an Xbox brand that has been a dumpster fire for years now, but going on and on trying to make this about people posting in the thread rather than the topic itself is just a coping mechanism and fake moral outrage all on its own.

I love the new cope that ps5 is only selling because of the discounts that MS simply chose not to offer. As if Xbox wasn't being sold at fire sale prices during previous holidays and still nobody wanted it.

Fact is, when ps5 and switch 2 are similarly priced, people overwhelmingly would rather buy a ps5. While Xbox is not even on the radar. Folks who have been aggressively pushing certain narratives recently will need to come to terms with that reality.

They had the Series S at $199 either a year or two ago and it didn't so squat.

Sony did an agressive price strategy this BF, here in Mexico still today You can get for 430 US the 1TB digital versión with Astrobot and Grand Turismo meanwhile the Base Switch 2 cost $540.00 U.S.

México used to be an Xbox territory thanks to 360 because was cheaper than PS3 and also easier to pirate it's games. But since PS4 the market has been moving to Sony territory. Nintendo also has a strog presence and fans, there is even a "joke" where grandparents call "Nintendo" every console when they see the kids playing videogames.

Xbox its almost dead here..

The topic itself is the rather vital context that Xbox did not participate in Black Friday. This is just the inconvenient truth getting in the way of your enjoyment of recycled memes from X. But no harm in "going on and on" when it's something the hive mind approves of, eh?

Neither did Nintendo, nor that Nex thing. Only Sony did heavy discounts.

But only Microsoft had abyssmal sales

And why do you think they didn't participate? Because they have given up on the failure that is Xbox Series.

A console manufacturer having an incredibly stupid reason for having shitty sales on Black Friday means it shouldn't be a topic, huh? The one person pushing this topic "on and on" is you. Keep clutching those pearls. You are exactly what you are whining about.

Xbox Series consoles not in top 100

PS Portal....LETS GO!!!!!!!!!

i think the catastrophic numbers, and the fact that these idiots were designing a high-end pc-box in this economic climate, will put that DOA "experiment" in jeopardy now,
wont be surprised if early next year we hear that its shelved, just like their handheld

I really think you are on to something here. No way Nadella allows MS to release Xbox Magnus at even a $1 loss per unit. That thing will most defintially be over $1,000. And at what point will it make sense to release a $1,000 console\PC when you can't even sell 200K Xbox Series consoles during November at an average price of $425 Series S and $625 Series X?!

Was very surprised the see great deals on the console especially with the PS5. Game stop was taking in ps5 digital for $300 so I took mine in and traded for the pro for $350 and I'm pretty happy about it. The extra TB is a godsend and console getting more expensive so I know the adoption rate for ps6 will be even longer next gen

Considering what FSR4\PSSR 2.0 will do for the PS5 Pro in 2026......your $350 will be an AMAZING value! Also I had no idea these PS5 deals were going until Christmas day!
