Clayface - Official Teaser Trailer

aHvlAE0s2NjITqMg.jpg

Clayface tells the terrifying story of a promising Hollywood actor's descent into hell as he becomes a vengeful monster.
An intense tale that explores the loss of identity and humanity, the ravages of toxic love, and the dark side of scientific ambition.

I wasn't sure about this, but seeing that trailer and how it appears to be a horror movie looks like the right call. It's got me interested to see more.

More comic garbage with another character who 99% of people in the world don't know who the fuck they are! Yay!

Hopefully it has as much success as the other cinema powerhouse, Blue Beetle.

Has a bit of a Rubber Johnny vibe to it.

Kinda interesting. Shame about the use of CGI. Still interesting.

I could use a second season of Tony So... The Penguin as well.

Clayface was a major villain in The Animated Series so I think everyone knows Clayface. He was also (spoilers for creature commandos)
one of the major big bads in creature commandos
Clayface is a good character for a Christopher Nolan like movie where he really takes on other people's faces. Imagine a spooky movie like that where you realize one of the dudes you have been speaking with was dead the whole movie and that was just Clayface. It could actually be a really good thriller, plus the Face is quite strong in hand to hand combat, needing basically electricity or ice to beat him. He may not be as flashy as some of Batman's other villians but I think he is one of the most capable due to his ability to change form. His only weakness is the length of which he can alter his form. It's basically Darkman.

I was dismayed when I heard Flanagan dropped out as director, but this still looks great. Hopefully they keep the Batman stuff to an absolute minimum (or exclude him completely). A universe WITHOUT Batman (where the GCPD have to handle these villains on their own) sounds like an awesome concept.

IIRC he was never officially attached as director because by the time this was greenlit, he was already committed to directing the new Exorcist and Carrie

They're building a DC Universe here so that's not happening lol

The Penguin did it so there is a slight chance.
I'm not saying that Batman will be in this movie (he won't be), what I'm saying is that they're not going to make an additional/separate DC universe without Batman because it's antithetical to the DC Universe that they're currently building.
Oh that's a shame. I thought this was going to be under their Elseworlds label.
The only thing considered Elseworlds at this point is Reeves Batman.

Joker was Elseworlds as well but we all know what happened with Joker 2 so that's done with lol

Looks good, but I'm confused.

Is this in the The Batman universe like Penguin?

The Gunn Superman universe?

The Joker elseworlds universe?

Or its own universe?

DC needs another crisis on infinite earths because I can't keep up with this shit.

Unfortunately it's in the Gunn universe. But the tone and look makes it fit The Batman better.

The trailer implies a much more grounded version of the character, couldn't see before how he'd work in the "The Batman" universe, but I can see now it based on what they showed in the trailer.

I guess there is some value in taking Batman villains and giving them a gritty 'realistic' film without all the capeshit, but really, do we need all this stuff? Sure, Joker made 800 million but is that a viable template? At least work in Nightwing or something to there is a protagonist worthy of such a villain. If Gotham PD could actually function as a police department you would NEED Batman in the first place!

Trailer was pretty decent, looked different enough to be on my radar at least.

If it's remotely as good as Joker then could be worth a look.

This is going to be confusing to the audience going forward.
Not really. Going forward, everything is DCU except for The Batman II. It's simple.

Clayface wouldn't fit into Reeves universe anyway since he's going for a grounded Batman like Nolan.

I'm surprised they went for a movie rather than a TV show. Basing a movie on a villain seems like a bigger risk, and after 'The Penguin' I'm surprised they didn't just copy that model.
