they'd still have to change a lot or dumb it down even further. you can't just leave billy stuck in a single room for 10 minutes while searching for the key for it as rebecca for example if billy is controlled by another player.

That's very true, hopefully that's expanded the right way by giving the Billy player a large enough area to be stuck in, with enemies, items and puzzles to keep him busy.

But probably not...

The Billy problem sounds less like a 'dumb down' and sounds more like a 'they need to add more' and be even more creative to compensate.

I thought the remaster was a wasted oportunity to add a co-op option. I'm not very into co-op RE games, but I see a hypothetical RE0 with this option and an Outbreak rerelease as exceptions.
