The other concerts thread was more generic, and this thread is focused solely on Coachella.

Whose going? What bands are you looking forward to?

Day 1: Animal Collective, Atmosphere, Audio Bullys, Devendra Banhart, Joey Beltram, Derrick Carter, Cat Power, Celebration, Chris Liberator, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Colette, Matt Costa, Carl Cox, Common, Daft Punk, Damian Marley, Deerhoof, Depeche Mode, The Duke Spirit, Eagles of Death Metal, Franz Ferdinand, Hybrid, Imogen Heap, Infusion, The Juan Maclean, Kayne West, Lady Sovereign, Ladytron, The Like, Living Things, Lyrics Born, My Morning Jacket, The New Amsterdams, Nine Black Alps, Platinum Pied Pipers, Rob Dickinson, The Section Quartet, She Wants Revenge, Shy FX & T Power, Sigur Ros, stellastarr*, Tosca, The Walkmen, White Rose Movement, Wolfmother, Youth Group, The Zutons

Day 2: Amadou & Mariam, Art Brut, Be Your Own Pet, Bloc Party, Coheed and Cambria, Coldcut, The Dears, Digable Planets, Dungen, Editors, Gabriel & Dresden, Giant Drag, The Go! Team, Gnarls Barkley, Infadels, James Blunt, Jamie Lidell, Jazzanova, Kaskade, Los Amigos Invisibles, Madonna, The Magic Numbers, Massive Attack, Mates of State, Matisyahu, Michael Mayer, Metric, Minus the Bear, Mogwai, MURS featuring 9th Wonder, Mylo (DJ set), Paul Oakenfold, OneRepublic, The Octopus Project, Gilles Peterson, Phoenix, Scissor Sisters, Seu Jorge, Kristina Sky, Sleater-Kinney, Tool, TV on the Radio, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Louie Vega, Wolf Parade, Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Bolded bands are the ones I'm interested in. Clearly the biggest draw for me this year is the 'hoof, but Mogwai is what pushed me over the edge.

Yes, I want to see Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.

Yes, I want to see Tool. I want to see what all the damn fuss is about.

Overall I think this years festival is kinda dull, and I lost interest in the Yeah Yeah Yeah's after that Show yr Bones album. Boring as hell.

Edit: List updated. Okay, I really want to see a lot of them. :-/

I'd go, but the lineup is made of bands I've already seen or don't care to see. I will say that I traveled from the East Coast to see Coachella two years ago, and it made me move to California. Crazy.

Dumb question -- is traffic from the Coachella Music Festival a concern if I'm going to Fontucky on Sunday afternoon/evening? (Before you ask, yes, I have a good reason for driving out there.)

I really hope Massive Attack does a US tour....they're the one act on that list I haven't seen that I really want to.

Aw that's a pretty nice line-up. Los Amigos Invisibles are great. I can listen to Playa Azul and Gorditas all day anyday. AWESOME video for Gorditas, btw.

Yeah. I had never been west of the Mississippi and my travels to Coachella, and adventures in Los Angeles pretty much sealed the deal that I was going to eventually move out here.

I think Bonnaro looks better this year, personally. I've never actually seen Radiohead live, so I guess I should just to say I've had. Obviously Sonic Youth would be the main drawing point.

Lots of good pics there.

I'd suggest looking into Dungen if you haven't heard them. Outstanding Psyche-rock.

You don't appear to be a huge hip-hop fan, but I'd be checking out Coldcut, Murs and Gnarls Barkley as well if I were there.

Edit: Nevermind, you do have quite a few selected.

I'm deeply saddened that I won't be making it out to Coachella this year, as I have the past two.. Money is just too tight.

The lineup isn't as good as it has been in the past, especially hiphop-wise, but still..sigh.

Thanks for the suggesstions, Flynn! I have the Dungen album, but I never really connected with it the first few times. But knowing me, I'll give it another whirl in a couple of weeks and I'll absolutely love it. I'll definitely check out Coldcut + Murs, though.

In other news: I am falling in love with Cat Power all over again. "The Greatest" is seriously underrated, I'm thinking. "Willie" is really really freaking good.

They played Seattle two days ago, actually. I didn't go, but I saw them during the Mezzanine tour. Good stuff.

Have a great time! I'm jealous. It's my first year outside of California in a long time.

I guess going to the Pitchfork show and seeing Os Mutantes will make up for it.

Also, I forgot to pimp Jamie Lidell. http://www.jamielidell.com/

He's pretty fresh.

Decent lineup, they actually got some electronic music this year. The biggest draws for me would be Carl Cox, Hybrid, Infusion, and Gabriel and Dresden. Perhaps I'll catch Louie Vega even though I think Masters At Work are overrated to all hell.

Personally, I don't like these "eclectic" lineups though, like it seems to be a bit of electronic music, a bunch of indie rock, and backpacker hiphop... This kind of mix of different genres is always awkward as all the different groups totally clash. Well it beats the pants off of Global Gathering in Miami -- whose bright idea was it to have Rob Zombie and NIN playing alongside Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Deep Dish, Steve Lawler...

Just got back myself, drove down from Sacramento area.

Favorite Show: Massive Attack. Don't know what to say about Massive Attack, they are just the shit.

Honorable Mentions: DAFT Fucking PUNK. Robot outfits. Crazy ass lightshow that could be seen from anywhere. Shrooms. Seriously, DAFT fucking PUNK. Imogean Heap, if you haven't seen her, do yourself a favor and do so. One of those rare people who inspire me to make music.

Best Show: Depeche Mode. They killed it, and did an awesome ass encore set. Was amazing.

Greatest Surprise: Lyrics Reborn. Wow, was enroute from one tent to another and just happened to hear these guys and got stuck.

Biggest Disappointment: Bloc Party. I still have no idea what people here in these guys, they were pretty awful.

Saddest Moment: The Rakes playing as hard as they could trying to compete with Daft Punk. Wait, DAFT fucking PUNK. Other than the handful of people at the stage, almost everyone was passing through on thier way to DAFT fucking PUNK. I was waiting for someone to go over there and yell, "Hey, quiet down, we are trying to listen to some real music over here!"

Biggest WTF?: A tie betwen the crazy ass security and the insane lines everywhere. Although the lines were probably a product of the former.

More later, just got home a bit ago, still need to decompress. Saw roughly 15 shows and camped.
