COD: Modern Warfare II trailer leaked

I'm looking forward to this one, the reboot was genuinely good and felt great to play. I couldn't care less about the story but am interested to see how they are going to expand on the multiplayer offering.

Im assuming it won't be revealed here but I'd like to see what Warzone 2 is looking like.

jesus christ, the amount of studio logos at the end... it's so fucking crazy that basically all of Activision is involved in the development of these games nowadays

I'm a bit out of the loop, is this a remake of MW2, or are they just reusing the name?

Every time I expect a CoD to blow my mind and bring something new to the table and every year its the same shit with different skins!

That seems a bit bizarre to me, no? Like, the same characters but a different story? Will it have all the old maps? Same guns?

I guess I'll just have to be patient and find out, but a "reboot" for a COD game just seems like "Hey guys, this is totally like that other game you love" -- I'm not sure I wouldn't just enjoy a true current gen-only remake of MW2 more.

Yep, that's CoD.
I enjoyed Vanguard, but MW was kinda campy which i disliked. Ground war was cool though. I'll wait on some reviews.

Depends what mode you played really. Domination, Hardpoint and Search and Destroy were all fun as hell. TDM was definitely very campy though. Hope there are more tools to deal with campers, even if it is a legitimate playstyle, there need to be harder counters without needing perks to overcome it.

Yep, TDM is my most played mode. I do agree on Dom and Hardpoint.
Feels like in Vanguard, people tend to just rush more compared to MW though. The footstep sounds in MW were loud as fuck.
Agreed on it being just another playstyle, just lacks the needed counters indeed. Ghost needs to be active when moving only, that would be a good first step.

MW was a campers paradise, on any mode. At least at launch. No dead silence perk, ghosts always activated, bad map design that encouraged finding a power position and camping didn't help either, it was a noobified cod, the devs admitted so themselves, to try to get new people in the door

As someone with 12 days of playtime, I disagree. I don't mind the "noobification", you'll always need new people coming through the door. You can't grow without a new player base.

Power positions have been a staple of COD for as long as I can remember too.

Camping is a legitimate play style, whether we like it or not. But there needs to be a better toolset to deal with them, as there's an inherent advantage to being good enough to hold down a position.

I've never found camping to be an issue in the modes which encourage playing an objective, I'll agree that TDM was always bad for it, though that's been the case with COD for as long as the franchise has existed.

As Pakoe Pakoe said, start by making Ghost a perk that only works when moving and it'll be a good start. Dead Silence being a perk again would also help massively.

Excited to see how they further encourage a more aggressive play style with this latest entry.

Personally i prefer foot steps of enemies to be really quiet in the first place, otherwise as a rusher, dead silence is a crutch perk on every loadout.

Yup that's cod not hating on anything but nothing that would say Holy shit , the only thing that made me scream holy shit is the amount of studios at the end , how many studios are in on it

True. I guess one complaint you could levy at MW2019 is that the footsteps were overwhelmingly loud.

I hope they take cues from games like Insurgency with how important positional audio can be for delivering information to a player. I do like what Raven implemented for Warzone with High Alert being a direct counter to Dead Silence. I hope they do more with a rock, paper, scissors style perk system with there being hard counters to various playstyles. Will help the game feel fresh and be good for the longer term.

The flow of the game just wasnt for me, im basically with Xclusive Ace on this one, he also disliked it, marked it as his worst cod ever LOL, which I agree. Down to even things like Scorestreaks being vastly superior to killstreaks, and helps promote objective play. I tend to enjoy Treyarch games, havent had fun with a infinity ward game in a long time, they have all been turds to me: ghosts, infinite warfare, MW19. I'm still playing cold war.

The game nailed some things: graphics, audio. But dropped the ball on the gameplay front, just not the same fun arcady cod. The maps were just bad, and I wasnt around by the time they added the classic maps, which is basically the only thing worth playing in that game.

Yes, every cod has campers, but this one literally encouraged it from a gameplay design standpoint.

Agreed on the ghost perk and dead silence will make a difference (this is already how it works on the black ops games), here is hoping they fix the problems,

PS, to sum up the issues: Footsteps, min map/radar, map design/flow, spawns, killstreaks, mounting, gameplay designs to encourage camping: no scorestreaks, ghosts always activated, dead silence not a perk etc. From a gameplay/design/fun/arcade perspective, it just was not it. And I didnt stay long enough for it to 'get good' or bring the old maps back to at least make it bearable

That's fair enough, sadly not all COD games will please the playerbase. I am probably the exact opposite opinion to you and Ace! MW 2019 is probably my favourite in the franchise, with Black Ops and MW2 close behind.

I certainly think there's enough room here to pull back slightly from the "tacticool" stance they were going for. With this "new era of COD" marketing cycle they're pushing, I am hoping it's more than just a marketing tagline and something that actively looks to move the franchise forward. There's enough good choices in both BOCW and Vanguard that could be implemented into MW2 that could please a much wider portion of the fanbase, even if I dislike both of those games.

Map flow can be a bit strange, but I appreciated the move away from more traditional 3 lane style maps (even if Shoot House is literally 3 lanes and the best map lol) Perhaps a move back to more standard maps and a removal of doors would help flow somewhat, hell, I would be happy if they just remade all the classics from IW games of the past.

I hope they win you around this time, as you said, MW2019 is outstanding presentation wise and the small details are incredible, gunplay feels good, but there is still room for improvement.

What a wholly original and brilliant take!

CoD is like FIFA!!! amirite? Every year is exactly the same as the previous one and they put in zero effort!!

And after almost 20 years you haven't learnt yet?
I still can't believe they've not made a Kart racer yet. Like seriously this franchise only has the same shooter every year?! Wtf! Zero effort and all the fans deserve the trash they get!

Why not make it like Uncharted for once?! GEEZ!!

I am not sure what people expect. It's a first person shooter. How much different will marketing really be?

Yep, I get that.

I found this to be very interesting. For some reason, in my experience, if you LOVED MW19 you hated Cold war. if you LOVED cold war, you HATED MW19. No in between.

I havent found someone that both loved mw19 and cold war, so yeah, it speaks to a split playerbase with different wants.

I want them to win me over, I love a good cod, I still play cold war here and there, and I would hate to sit out on cod for 2 year (rumors about this one being a 2 year cycle). If you check my youtube you can see some of my gameplay

I will say tho, I will know sooner than later, when the aplhas and betas hit, those are great indicators of a good vs bad cod game. It has never failed me. If I loved a beta, I end up loving the final product. If I have concerns, or dont have fun during the beta, I tend to dislike the game. I played the bo3, bo4, and cold war betas and had a blast, ended up playign those games the whole year. Played the infintite warfare, WW2, vanwguard, mw 19 betas, was not a fan, ended up not buying them, or dropping them early.

My hope is the same as yours,, hopefully they find a good in between, where I can find fun on a infinity ward game. Presentation wise it was great, just not on everything else lol

Oh and they BETTER have 120fps and 120 fov day 1, no going back after cold war added that on console

Lol, bolded is absolute truth. I have never encountered anyone who liked both titles. It is BIZARRE. Incredibly jarring as past titles had their detractors but never anything like what we see between those two titles.

Honestly, if console doesn't get an FoV slider then it's a fucking travesty. I cry out for my console bretheren having suffered with it before moving over to my PC. Warzone 2 better have that shit too, it's fucking ridiculous it never got support for the new consoles.

yeah, having it there day 1 is a most, no going back after having it on cold war

do you play mouse on keyboard on pc?

yeah, the split between cold war and mw19 was unlike anything ive ever seen

I have been and always will be a controller player for COD. Just feels too jarring trying to relearn that muscle memory from literally a decade of playing COD on controller now.

ahhh interesting, was curious about that. cod REALLY nailed a controller shooter down

random thing to throw in here, warzone also kinda runing it. I like a good BR, I go to apex for that.

But now, when my casual friends think of 'cod' they only think of warzone, and hey, its free to play, anyone can download and play, i get it

I miss the days of having a lot of friends playing classic 6v6 cod, thats what cod is to me, classic 6v6 and what I got to cod for. Heres hoping one day we get either a free to play 6v6 cod, or they add mp like modes on warzone 2, i remember having a blast one day that they added like a 50v50 warzone tdm, not sure why they stopped that

They have this thing with Limited Time Modes where they're constantly in rotation. It's a bit frustrating that sometimes a good mode such as Clash comes along (feels a bit like Ground War or Battlefield) but it only lasts the week. I think it's to encourage people to get their wallets out and buy Vanguard or other Call of Duty multiplayer games.

I do believe classic 6v6 still has its place. But the BR behemoth is definitely the current trendy thing that everyone is trying to get their hooks into. Too much money being left on the table otherwise.

What do you want to see, BF2042 happening all over again? People were asking for a TRUE Battlefield and got lemons.
Now imagine the CoD devs doing this..... Throwing years of cemented features overboard....
Yeah......... You'll have a shitstorm of Biblical proportions coming.

As the creator of Megaman once said: "Never change a winning formula".
