Comedy Smarts behind the Man Show

Ok. I'm a firm believer now, after giving Kimmel... what, two years?... on his late night show that he was not in any way related to the comedy of the Man Show. Well, I won't go that far. He was heavily involved, it's just that Adam Corolla was far more comical. Corolla SHOULD have his own late night show, and when NBC moves Conan up to Leno's spot in 5 years, I hope they give Corolla the old Conan gig.

Back when Kilborn left the Late Late Show, and they were looking for new hosts, they had one new person every week. Well, right after they announced the new host, they still had their guest host going. That week it was Adam Corrolla (sp?). I only watched the first twenty minutes, but those 20 minutes were funnier than anything I've seen on Kimmel's show. He started off with some picture of a homeless fat kid, and was like, "Everytime it gets slow I'm going to flash this picture of this homeless fat kid from the 1950s. Just look at it." Then he went into this thing, "Well, since I'm not gonna get this job, I'm just going to do home improvement tips. I've got a camera at a local Home Depot and here, we'll take some questions." Well he ends up doing this entire bit on home improvement, and he was serious the entire time he was talking to these old people about building stairs or something, but then they kept flashing this goofy looking fat kids picture into the frame and it just made the entire thing HILARIOUS.

Looking back on it, I really think Corolla should have his own show, and Kimmel should stick to NFL Today.

Er, you're in luck as Corolla is getting his own show on Comedy Central later this year. It'll be in one of the spots after The Daily Show, focused on mocking daily news and whatnot but mostly entertainment stuff, or something like that.

I used to listen to lovelines Mon-Thursday for a couple years in the mid-nineties. Corolla is fucking hilarious. Sometimes he steps over the line, but Kimmel pretty much just spends his entire routine over the line and it gets old fast. Kimmel just doesn't have the charisma to be a talk show host IMO.

I agree.

I would rather see Corolla get Stern's radio show (when he moves to sattelite.) But, I don't think that is going to happen.

Really? I thought that show was going to Steve Colbert. Or are they making multiple shows?

There's two shows that will be after The Daily Show. One's The Colbert Report, and another is for Corolla. Comedy Central hasn't decided which will directly follow The Daily Show.

I've been a fan of both for over a decade.

The funniest guest host on the Kimmel was Corolla BY FAR. The bomb difusal squad skit had me rolling. Too bad the audience really didn't get it.

I just hope Adam's new shows + involvement with the Kimmel show doesn't interfere with Loveline too much. He says he loves doing the radio show, so I hope he keeps it going.

PS: LL is on Sun-Thurs, not just Mon-Thurs :D :D
