It has that weird web toon vibe I can't shake. Something special about Comix Zone. Maybe it's nostalgia from being a kid and playing it a lot. That whole modern look ruins it for me. The 2D sprites and small touches. The main character felt like he had humor and excitement. This looks sterile af.

Haven't looked at comics since I was a kid, so maybe I'm stuck in the 90's/00's comic styles, but the panels seem too big and the character art lacks personality, like they look too clean with no distinct art styling like the popular comics I remember. The floating pencil drawing in the stuff... it just looked out of place, in the Comix Zone game you would have a stylized hand coming in drawing it into place. Idk, I don't mean to be negative to the creators, I think it's cool they are exploring this style, but it's like they designed around the idea of it and not within its constraints and what people think of with comics?

Also kinda tacky if they have no relation to Comix Zone to name it Comix Zero. This is like an uninvited love-letter from an ugly girl lol

the gameplay looks extrmely floaty and the animations look not only weightless but also weirdly timed... and kinda buggy? as if some animations trigger too late, trigger twice or are disconnected to the effects layered on top.

the way he dies at 1:17 for example looks broken.

It also doesn't help that they stole the air dash animation almost directly from PoP Lost Crown, where it's supposed to look kinda like a wallrun, and that then makes me compare it directly to that...
and the last thing these devs should want is anyone comparing it to Lost Crown, because that won't end well,
as Lost Crown is on the exact opposite end of the spectrum and is maybe one of the most well animated and tightest western developed game in this style of all time.
