So how's the situation with the bugs? I've read that cones can be buggy and that would be a major issue in a game like this.

And has one played it on XSX? I might just sub to GP for a month instead of waiting for a retail release.

Give them some time. 2 months or so atleast.

A lot of things are not working correctly.

2 missions completed and 3rd started yesterday on hardest. Besides some dumb rag doll stuff after kill, didn't run into much bugs, so no reason to assume there would be major issues.
I just find it not so polished.. some stutters in the beginning though I can live with that, also motion blur turned off yet still it surely doesn't seem like gone..
And missing one thing gameplay wise.. when you double click somewhere the low laying commandos won't stand up and sprint like in other games, or maybe it's homage to the old games idk :D

Commandos: Origins reviewed by Luke Reilly on PC. Also available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

"Commandos: Origins strikes a great balance between the classic stealth tactics games and modern streamlined ideas, creating tons of potential for finding creative solutions to problems like "too many living fascists." Pruning out elements like inventory management may not be to every older fan's tastes, but that's focused a spotlight on strict stealth – and it's here Origins shines. Sneaking through its massive maps, each of which are swarming with hundreds of enemies, takes hours and hours of patient planning and careful clicking. I regularly gleaned a ton of pleasure from executing a perfect coordinated strike and fading away into the background, with the remaining Nazis none the wiser. No plan survives contact with this many bugs, but quick-loading will get you past nearly any issue and this otherwise might be the sneakiest fun you can have going commando with your underwear on."

IGN's Luke Reilly reviews Commandos: Origins, highlighting its stealth gameplay and modernized approach while noting some bugs. The game retains its challenging tactical elements, allowing both veterans and new players to engage deeply with each mission. Despite some technical issues, the immersive environments and command mode bring satisfying strategic experiences.

Gameplay Mechanics

Commandos: Origins offers a slow-paced, isometric stealth experience, requiring players to analyze enemy movements and strategize their approach to missions. Each character has unique abilities, emphasizing thoughtfulness over chaos in gameplay.

Command Mode

The new command mode allows players to freeze time and queue actions for multiple commandos, enhancing strategic planning and execution during intense encounters. The satisfaction of successfully coordinating attacks is a highlight.

Visuals and Environment

The game features detailed 3D environments set across various European and North African locales, from snowy settings to arid deserts, contributing to an immersive gameplay experience.

Bugs and Technical Issues

While the game is engaging, players encounter various bugs, especially involving quick saves, which can lead to frustrating scenarios. However, multiple save slots mitigate the impact of these issues.

Success for New and Old Players

Commandos: Origins is designed to appeal to both seasoned players familiar with the series and newcomers, offering intuitive gameplay that encourages experimentation and patience in a tactical setting.

I don't even have time for it until this summer, so I guess that works out. Will definitely play it in a couple months.

Will actually be my first Commandos game, but I've played other games that are similar.

I still feel this wouldn't touch absolute precision required for first Commandos game and its expansion.

Its a bit more casual but still enjoyable from what I played.

Yeah, we'll see. I still need to play Stone of Madness, got that also. Then will play this.

I loved Shadow Tactics and Desperados 3.

Picked up a steam key for 25 bucks but honestly already regretting my purchase.

The game runs like dogshit. Insane stuttering, asset loading problems, it's just a mess. In the opening cutscene the Sapper is supposed to drive a jeep but the car didn't load in so the Sapper was just floating through the air, dumb shit like this.

I have a 4070 and even with graphics options dialed back and DLSS on performance it runs bad. I can run Assassin's Creed Shadows on epic graphic settings and get 60fps, this static isometric top-down game should get at least 300 fps especially with DLSS enabled.

Only did the tutorial mission but it's clearly a lower budget game which is not a problem at all but the 50 euro price point is preposterous.

Too many games backed up, it'll have to wait. Hopefully, by the time it comes, there'll be a patch to improve performance, which isn't the best I've tested on XSX via Gamepass.

A but off topic but I can't get this out of my head!

Threr was a game announcement, maybe 4 months ago. It was a game like this but with a Mexican or Spanish setting and 80s vibes.

Not so much strategy, more stealth gameplay.

Does anybody know what game it is?
