Complete list of music games

So I'm thinking it would be cool to make a good collection of music games. Preferably released in PAL or NTSC for the US, but japanese games will do if this is the only option.

So what is out there for me to get (no need to list every titel in major franchises, one is enough and then I can find the rest on my own)? My list so far is:

Cool Cool Toon
Space Channel 5
Space Channel 5 Part 2
Donkey Konga
Dancing Stage (DDR for non-europeans)
DJ: Decks & FX
Parappa 1 & 2
is: internal section (PS) - don't know if it really is a music game (haven't tried it yet)
Gitaroo Man
Mad Maestro
Taiko no tatsujin
Eyetoy: Groove
Depth
Baby Universe
Beatmania
Superstar Dance Club
Unison
Technic Beat
Frequency
Samba de Amigo

To get (tell me if there is anything to avoid):
Um Jammer Lammy
Vib Ribbon
Bust a Groove
Punch the monkey
Planet Dob
Beat Planet Music

Thank you!

Bust a Move 2: Dance Tengoku Mix is cool! Never tried the US version.

There's also Dance Summit 2001: Bust A Move, with that funky controller you strapped on your knees or something. Heard it was pretty crappy though, haven't played it myself.

The PSX DDR games?
Like
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, Max, Max2, Extreme, Extra Mix, Best Hits, Oha-Sta and all the other versions of DDR for the PS1 and PS2?

Don't forget Sega Super Stars and eyeToy:Play whcih both have music games in them.

Don't get MC Groov Dance Craze. I have it and it is the worst console game I have ever played.

Karaoke Revolution 1-3, Get On Da Mic, and American Idol are also missing.

Cripes!

aha, how about:

guitar freaks
popn music
drummania
keyboardmania
para para paradise
dance maniax

also Baby Universe is not really a game... more like a glorified music CD player

Beware of Rez.

It's more of a shooter than your traditional timing based rythm game.

Not sayin Rez is a bad game, just sayin don't go in expecting Frequency/Amplitude.

I think of it as a music game, since the controller throbbin' to the beat & the increase of music as you play well is so integral to the experience. I guess by that logic you could argue that SSX Tricky / SSX3 are music games, though, so maybe I should shut up.

Buy Rez anyhow (but not for more than $50!). :lol

Good response... thanks guys!

I forgot some of the games I have..... Frequency and Samba de Amigo and some of the Dancing Stage games (european name for DDR) for PSX are all there.

Rez is the game that got me into gaming again (left with the Amiga500 :) ) and I'm glad I have it for the Dreamcast (a PS2-version is also around). But I left it out since I see it more as a shooter than a music game.

And I got the Eyetoy-games but don't think they are focused enough. :)

Thanks again!

Oh, and WRT Internal Selection, was it PS1 or 2?

Do you mean is: Internal Section that I listed? If so, it's for PS1... it was someone here on GAF who recommended it as a Rez-like game so I took my chances (and haven't played it yet :( )

In Japan, Dancing Stage is a different series than Dance Dance Revolution so you need both listed. Both are done by Konami but seperate series. Don't forget stuff like Karaoke Revolution and Singstar.

It's different kind of games? I thought it only was the selection of music that was different... and of course the fact that we have five or so games in Europe, while Japan and US have a lot more.

Let's not forget some other gems:

Dog of Bay (ps2)
Tam Tam Paradise (ps2)
Paca Paca Passion 1 & 2 (arc, psx)

Internal Section is pushing it, but I guess it's worth including because it does have a pretty heavy music emphasis. You can put in your own CDs and it will loosely build levels around the tracks.

Fort - Rhythm'n'FACE is an incredibly difficult little game where you build faces by moving the various features into place in herky-jerky musical rhythms, copying examples displayed by the computer. It's really weird, as you can probably tell. And yeah, Rhyme Rider Kerorikan is the isometric froggy game by NanaOn-Sha of Parappa/Lammy/Vib fame.

I guess Goo Goo Soundy counts? It was so bad I don't even remember how it played, though, so maybe not. And, yeah, Internal Section and Rez are totally pushing it.

Edit: iS is not a music game. Like Bobby said, it can generate tracks based upon it, but it's really a tunnel shooter (like Tempest or something).

I know there were other ribbon games, but I want Masaya to bring them to the states. I try to import as many as I can, but I am pretty sure that there are some people who are willing to play it.

i got dancing stage, its good as, only prob is the song list. But im used to step mania which i had like 5-6 gigs worth of songs so maybe it's not all that bad.

On your first list, two titles stand out:

Superstar Dance Club
Unison

Unless you get these for like $3 apiece or something, skip them...
