Okay guys, I'm looking to build a computer for about 1700-1800 shipped. It'll be a gaming rig. The only thing that I require is a DVD burner, SLI compatible MB(not necessarily the second video card) and about 60 gigs for a hdd. I'd prefer the video card to be a 6800 ultra, and i'd prefer everything sata. Thanks guys. :D

But you're getting rid of your consoles? Do explain.

EDIT: Just got your PM. Thanks.

Someone getting rid of thier consoles to get a gaming PC is a guy I want to drink with.

(Especially if he is buying the drinks)

And btw, this rig isn't for me. I haven't bought a PC game since City of Heroes and I've hated myself ever since. This is for a friend of mine.

Total Before Rebates: $1,797.67
Final Total: $1720.67

Upped the processor. AMD 3200 is great, but AMD 4000 is better :D
Might as well get a 7800GT. It is less money, might be a 'little' bit slower. But supports newer stuff.
Bad monitor, had 16ms responce time and was only 15".
And all that power with some weak ass speakers. Get some nice ones. These logitech ones have a nice sound and are only $70 aft rebates. Which is a great price.

If that price is too high, I'd go down to a AMD 3500. That will be $1,645.56 before shipping and rebates.

Sweet! thanks! do much do you think I could OC the 3500 to? BTW, did you do that with retail or oem prices?

oh yeah. If you get the Venice core. I've heard people pushing it to 3.0 GHz (2.2 GHz stock). A 10% to 15% with stock cooling is more then possible. If you wanted to push it anymore, I'd get the ZALMAN CNPS7700-CU 120mm 2 Ball Cooling Fan if you were planning on going any higher then that.

to my surprize only the HDD was OEM. Everything else is retail.

PM me with your email and I can send you the cart.
