Computer Games: how is this magazine doing?

I let my sub to Computer Games run out last November, yet I continue to receive issues. Just got the February issue today (it even says my sub expires Nov 04 right on the magazine). It's a very good read; this is the only game magazine I still consider worth buying, and I'll resubscribe if they ever stop sending me free issues :lol. Anyway, does anyone know how this magazine is doing in the market? I know some of you freelance for CG. I'd hate to see the mag go under, but it's getting awfully thin.

That's what I'd like to know myself. They have had the DVD/entertainment section (Now Playing) take up a hefty section of space on an already thin magazine for several months now -- amusingly the cover this month mentions an interview with the Velvet Underground when the article inside is actually about Velvet Revolver.

Apparently the section will finally leave Computer Games and launch as its own magazine this year, so it sounds like the publisher is doing fine. However, even the other two PC magazines, with much larger circulations, aren't exactly thick as bricks these days.

I freelance for them (as does Drinky Crow) and as far as I'm aware, everything is fine. I talk to Bauman at least a couple times a month too. Those extra pages for Now Playing are just that, extra. They didn't cut a single editorial page from the regular mag for those. Advertising sucks for everyone in the mag business right now from what I understand, but the mag is doing ok. I'm submitting a review to them today/tomorrow as a matter of fact and my Colin McRae 2005 review is in the most recent issue.

I keep getting checks for the work I do. That's always a good sign. :)
