So today i woke up, turned my computer on, then went to school. I came back half an hour later to find my computer off... and that's pretty much it, it's refusing to turn on again. I've tried switching cables trying removing and inserting pieces of hardware but nothing's working. Is the power supply dead?

Heh, your PSU could have died, your processor could have overheated and fried... lots of things could have happened. :| This happened to me once but then after popping my CMOS battery it was all good in the hood.

Have you tried a different power outlet?

We had a similar problem not too long ago. The computer simply wouldn't turn on at all - no LEDs, no fans, no initial boot messages, etc. It turned out our house must have had a power surge, which mostly fried the power strip where the computer was plugged in. The monitor still turned on, so it was letting some power through, but apparently not enough for the entire system. Switching to a new power strip fixed everything.

yep... tried different outlets... i'm guessing, most likely, the fan stopped working... it's been making strange noises lately... looks like my computer is gone :(
