Try lowering the number of connections allowed during the torrent. Sometimes my computer would freeze up with torrents because the NIC couldn't handle all the connections. Lower the number to something like 20 active connections or something.

Lemme guess, you have an older Linksys network card? You need to update the driver. Do a Google search on network card and Bitorrent freezing and you'll see it's a common problem...

i ended up getting a cheapo $5 3Com card off of eBay. i forget the chipset, but it was recommended to me from people on the AnimeSuki boards a couple years ago. My Linksys card would reset my computer randomly. No driver update fixed the problem.
