condemned achievments question

i played the game through and ive unlocked 47/50 achievments but i went on gamespot and found these.

Internal Affairs Report Award Find 20 Metal Peices
DUO Report Award Find 29 Metal Pieces

now, the 3 remaining achievments are visable on my achievments list, but theyre not these. do some games have EXTRA achievments, not including the "secret" ones? because there arent that many metal pieces in the game. also a lot of other sites have these listed.

All the achivements are listed, or have a spot that says secret

Achivements are only cool when they're hard to accomplish and not just some collectathon. Like beating Smash TV in 1 credit. Although I'm sure no one will ever accomplish this feat ever but I hope someone can prove me wrong

They are called something else.

I see them as meaning both, I like to see some like the Smash TV one you mentioned, but it's also used as a guage to how much gaming you do.

Yeah, but finding all the metal pieces in Condmned can be tough, or at least quite time consuming.

Well the metal pieces aren't all that hard to find...I didn't realize till about halfway through the game that the "eye" drawings on the walls strewn about the game indicate that there is a metal piece right there. There are only a few that were really out of the way, and the game is pretty linear...

Bird achievment is the hardest one. The difficulty is raised due to a glitch in the game. I know people that played the game 4 time and collected every bird without getting the achievment.

It's not difficult at all (nor is there a glitch as far as I've seen) if you understand how the game tracks what you've picked up and what you haven't.

The game seems to look at your stats on a "play through" basis. What that essentially means is that if you are on a current play through of the game, it counts everything you've done for that play through specifically. So if you started at level 1 and played through all the way to level 8, but maybe forgot a bird, metal piece, melee weapon, etc. and you go back to a specific chapter to recover an item (before beating the game again); it will count for you. As an example, on my third play through I got all of the birds for chapter 6 and 8 which I had missed on my first two run throughs, but I was not awarded the Gold Bird Award. I had all of the silver awards mind you, but no gold. The reason for that was because during that specific play through I missed 2 birds in chapter 4. I went back and restarted Chapter 4, collected those two birds before beating the game again, and I was awarded the Gold Bird award. So your previous stats still count overall, but the current play through of the game is just as important if that makes any sense.

I got all 50 achievements after my third play through. It was worth it in the end since I pretty much loved every minute of the game. I hope rumors of some kind of downloadable content are true.

I also got the melee award without doing the last stage.
Yeah so did I. I guess they forgot there was a guns in that stage or something.

I didn't get the "picked up all melee weapons" award, that's all I'm missing. I have NO CLUE what I've missed after 2 play-throughs, including one where I was only using melee weapons. I'm guessing I didn't pick up both types of signs or something like that. Its kinda annoying having 48 out of 50 achievements done.

And I agree with Wario on the bird/metal achievements. Sure its a challenge to find them all, but anyone can just go to Gamefaqs and read where they all are anyways.

I see the achievement system as a good way of tracking whether or not I've fully "conquered" a game, be it on my own or following a guide. I have a tendency to not care about being 100% on my games before moving on to another title. With the achievements, I'm pretty set on not putting down a game until I've seen/done absolutely everything the game has to offer.

I didn't realize until halfway about the eyes marking the metal pieces, either.

As for achievements and slightly OT, I really like them, as long as they're not too easy and there are a few that are not that hard. THAW and Kameo giving you achievements just for playing through the story is just lame. But a game where all the achievements are from playing through the hardest difficulty modes only is kinda fucked, too. I think there needs to be a better balance. That also applies to points scores. Some easy shit is 100 points while harder shit is 10 from what I've seen.

Another thing I hate is that games you rent and get disgusted with can't be removed from your list. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but if I only play 3 games hardcore and have 2000 points, though I have 20 games on my list because I rented a ton, it will look on my Gamertag that I'm a pussy. hahaha, I'm a stickler for my Gamer Points.

Did you use the melee function for every gun as well? ;)

There are, iirc, 2 melee weapons that only appear on certain levels. One of them is a desk drawer.

Desk drawers appear in the Library, and in an earlier chapter (2 or 3 I believe) I think. One melee weapon that only appears in specific chapter would be the desk tops in the school level. You have to yank them off the seats, but they are only available in that level, IIRC.

No I got all those. I'm sure the one I'm missing is the signs one, cause I read on IGN a few days ago that there are two types. I bet anything I picked up the one but not the other. There's also one called "handrail" and I'm not sure what that is, nor am I sure I used the melee option on each gun. Next time I have a craving to go through that game, I'm sure I'll get those last two achievements.
