At long last, Leon S. Kennedy has been confirmed to appear in Resident Evil: Requiem — via a leaked image on the PlayStation Store

The reveal of new cover art for the game featuring Leon finally puts to bed one of this year's biggest gaming mysteries — something developer Capcom has itself refused to address — just days ahead of Requiem's appearance at The Game Awards. Presumably we'll see Leon announced officially there.

This morning, Resident Evil fans began spotting the new cover art appearing on PlayStation 5 consoles in the pre-download screen for owners of the standard (non-Deluxe) version of the game. IGN has now verified this ourselves, and can confirm the image is legitimate. Leon is real.

Oh well hopefully he won't take too much time away from Grace. Again to get me wrong i like the character but i would prefer if the games would focus on other characters instead like Jill, Rebecca, Claire or Barry.

Chris Redfield was in the Village box art too and he was playable for five minutes in that game

Oh no, a AAA company is trying to have its cake and eat it too trying to micromanage the marketing of big portions of the game to control details for hype but they wait until last minute to reveal that stuff and it leaks. The fanbase is the problem, surely.

nah, Capcom is way too risk-averse to kill off major named characters. They've had multiple opportunities to do that with Chris, even had some really good replacements ready for him.

Resident Evil "fans" hate women and new characters. They just wanna keep playing the same two white boys they played as when they were 12.

You'll probably play as Leon for like 20 minutes like you do with Chris in RE8.

No? You BARELY see "Yo I'm gonna buy if Jill or Claire is in" these days if ever. It's ALWAYS Leon and Chris. Ethan is a new character, doesn't matter if he's white, people didn't like him because he wasn't Chris and/or Leon.

If Jill or Claire was back I'd be gassed but I've seen cases of just playing as Leon in RE2Remake then moving on. Not even touching Claire, so....

Leon being in is just a euphemism for gameplay that won't be streamer horror dog shit to me. All they've shown is more of the elements I couldn't stand in the previous two games so I'm putting my money on assuming that "classic character = classic gameplay". But a stick figure wearing a Santa outfit could be in his place as long as the gameplay checks out as as far as I'm concerned.

Again, I'm assuming that because it seems logical but alas, it could be any fucking body that doesn't tap in the dark to Find Mom.

More like Resident Evil fans like their key characters. Jill, Chris, Claire, Leon. Their continued presence plays a massive part in why the majority of us like the series. Change is risky, and even when pulled off, we still want the old ones back.

It's not the sex of the character people have issues with. It's the "who the fuck is this new person I'm playing as".
