Considering selling largely unused PC in favor of PS4 Pro, want advice on sale method

I'm not saying PC gaming is worse than console gaming. What I am saying is that PC gaming Is not better than console gaming, it's all about options and I'm giving my reasons why I picked A certain option.

Hey man...I've been an exclusive console gamer from birth to 2015.

PC is superior to consoles in almost every way except ease of transport. Not really a matter of opinion.

If i lended you my PC for a month and let you play every multiplat game that you enjoy, you'd probably change your mind.

Game deals are better, performance is better, accessibility is better, longevity is better (with mods and skins, if you care), it's cheaper, more convenient, and you don't need 2 devices to browse the internet while playing your game.

In fact...if for nothing else, Alt+Tab is why Consoles have been forever tainted in my eyes. There is no console feature that will ever compete with the ability to run browsers / music / chat in the background.

Once you get used to that, there is no going back.

If you don't have any other PC? Yeah, it's crazy.

Who am I kidding it's crazy either way. Just don't.

Yeah what would you browse the web on without a PC? And yes i'm aware PS4 has (terrible) web browsing capability.

OP better at least have a Laptop handy.

Personally I'd never consider getting rid of my main PC.

to answer the op: Go for it. If there's no exclusives you're interested in, your friends play on PS4, etc - you'll be better off with the Pro

Here we go,
I'm expecting a lot of this. Ad hominem. People trying to justify their investments.
Outdated myths my ass. You know it's all true.

damn dude I should have told my friend to save his money, he was looking for a projector last month

Do it. I sold my high end a year ago.
Never looked back. PC made be obsessed, I barely was able to enjoy games.
All I cared about was how can I make the game run the best, with the best possible graphics.
I spent hours in the menu every-time. And let's not forget all the bad ports, pretty much every single triple A game. And all the errors and nonsense. Then I go to PC game forums and thousands upon thousand of posts about people having problems with the game. Not worth it. (Go check the PC performance threads on here, every time a game comes out. So sad). On my ps4, I put the disk in, update and play. If there is a problem (extremely rare), it's the developer's fault, no tinkering around needed, so beautiful.

Most online games on PC are filled with hackers, or dead on arrival, or die within months. infinite warfare right now is dead. Battlefront when it came out died quickly. Division was unplayable, due to hackers. F that.

I only care about 60 fps in a handful of games (fast arcade and fps). 30fps stable is 100% playable for me on consoles, even for some first person shooters. Destiny runs like a dream.
Modding is a pro of PC games. But I don't care anymore. It's a waste of time. By the time I finish a moddable game, there is another big game waiting for me to play, my backlog is huge, and there are always games coming out.

And I hate the PC elitists. with their "Build your rig" mentality. F off.

And my ass that PC gaming is cheaper. I have saved a ton of money by going the consoles route. Yes you pay for online buu it's cheap and you get a lot of free games that I would not have played otherwise.
I buy my games dirt cheap on black friday, and I have GCU from best buy I get a shit ton of discounts on new games. And when I'm done, my friend borrows it and I borrow his, and then I sell my games. You can't do that on Steam. Also PSN does a lot of giant sales. PC gaming is not cheaper in the longer run, another lie PC gamers want to believe to make themselves feel better.

This whole elitist mentality of some PC gamers pisses me off. The fact you pay a couple hundred dollars more than console gamers and you waste countless of hours tinkering around the options and configs does not make you elite or master by any means.I bet most of them drive crappy four cylinder cars.

You will love the PS4, it's like night and day compared to PS3. It's a system made for gaming, all the things they added to the OS, and the DVR. I also love trophies, and how they improved the ecosystem and the community.

You can downgrade your PC to get some money and still play xbox exclusives and that good AAA PC exclusive that comes out every two years(if any), or just sell it and later buy a cheap one . I just sold mine and might put together a cheapo one soon for CIV6 (if it doesnt come to consoles) and xbox games. But first, I'm waiting for the scorpio, to see whats what.

Good luck.
LMAO

It's like a Horse Armour post but you're actually serious, that's hilarious.

Nope, just my opinion.

I want to play games without having insecurity voices EVERYWHERE out there about some '' superiority''. When I was kid things were different. Now I just can't...

If you can't accept different opinions maybe you have bias. Just saying.
If you visit 9gag and you accept gaming conversations as legit, it is also weird.

When you were a kid things were no different. And no that isn't how argument works, I'm not the one painting broad brush strokes against other platforms or their player base. Blatant misinformation and baseless claims is your game and I'm calling you on it. 9gag is one website, maybe stop visiting it?

Yeah what would you browse the web on without a PC? And yes i'm aware PS4 has (terrible) web browsing capability.

OP better at least have a Laptop handy.

You can browse the web on a phone, tablet, notebook and laptop.
Where have you been for the last 10 years?

The op has clearly said a laptop or notebook would actually be more convenient for his browsing and homework needs?

It is your imagination. This is like the only time I talked about this. Because it's the damn subject. Go read the OP.
Usually it is PC elitist that like to mention their PC every chance they get.

I wasn't talking specifically about you. These days, I see far more people complaining about "PC Elitists" (that or misinformed posts that act like we're still in 2005) than I see actual elitist posts.

This thread (and your post), and others like this one before it, is a prime example of that.

Maybe if this were 3-4 years ago you'd have a point, but not anymore. Not on GAF at least.

there is a kernel of truth to the fact that PC games sometimes come out in a sad state. Every so often there is a Batman.

Do it OP. Console gaming is more fun if your friends are there with the games you like. Besides, for all the graphical tinkering you can do on PC, no game there will look as good as the new God of war or Uncharted 4

Cannot stress enough!

And seeing as you can't take your console on the run like your phone or laptop, this can't be more relevant

there is a kernel of truth to the fact that PC games sometimes come out in a sad state. Every so often there is a Batman.

This IS true though.

But for every Batman, there's a Dark Souls 3 that runs twice as fast.

Or a Tales of Zesteria that can be unlocked to 60FPS with a 1 minute patch fix.

Or a Sonic Generations that has its value expanded upon threefold thanks to mods.

Can't argue with that

So yes, Most of AAA releases are bad ports, online games are filled with hackers, Infinite Warfare is dead (with 15k concurrent users as we're talking). Battlefield 1 is dead (with 100k concurrent users as of right now), tinkering with games, because 99% of the time, they're not working.

You're right, it's not outdated myths. We're into legends territories now.

Of course you can't argue, all you do is ad hominem, post a picture, and misinterpret what I said. Then you post the stats of one of the biggest FPS on PC. :)

Battlefield 1 is the best looking game ever made tho

The burden of proof is on your to substantiate your points instead of spreading outdated misconceptions and attacking the other users.

So you're actually trolling? It perhaps may have been better for you not to reveal yourself.

Yes i'm aware, I own a Note 4, Nexus 7 tab & Dell laptop but would much rather browse the web on my PC setup, Laptop is a close 2nd tho especially when using the wireless mouse I bought for it. Browsing on phone / tablet is a joke.

No, I posted the stats of games you said are dead:
infinite warfare right now is dead.

I don't misunderstand or misinterpret anything. These are all actual quotes from your post. I can't argue to "You know that !"
As if the poster was basically lying to himself. There's no arguing with you, your entire post reads like PR or astroturfing.

No, i didn't say that.
When I was kid things were different about my reactions/tolerance in these statements. Now I stopped visiting these websites just like you said.

But I can't stop visiting every site out there because of you. You can just accept different opinions. The problem is that you can't and you baptize them ''misinformation''. This game is yours not mine.

Opinion is not misinformation, my friend. That's our basic difference.

Everyone is wrong on the internet.

What if objectively PC is superior to console gaming in every way, but making objective choices isn't fun?

Haha.

As a subjective individual, i just prefer my PS4 tho...

Here we go,
I'm expecting a lot of this. Ad hominem. People trying to justify their investments.
Outdated myths my ass. You know it's all true.

How would one justify investing in PS4 PRO (man that PRO sure sounds elitist) when they already have PS4?

That's a lot of saying nothing. You made a sweeping claim of PC elitism this way and that, and now you try to defend it as 'opinion'.

So now we have, ad hominem, texas sharpshooter, tu quoque and a slight personal incredulity. Do you want to add more ?

Irrationality is the only accepted way of explaining consumers expenses in economics sciences.

You shouldn't think everything is done on purpose in this world.

So why should a guy have to justify anything, really? No one should.

I'm in the same mindset as you, OP. However, instead of selling off my PC, I turned it into a Hyper-V server with a lot of VMs, which also hosts my Plex server, file server, web/ftp server, etc...

Although, I did sell my video card and resorted back to the onboard audio/video, which is still fine for my purposes.

My PC feels like an incredibly expensive Chromebook as of late, and there's really no PC exclusives I'm looking forward to.

Which leads me to this thread.

What would be the best way to go about this? Individual parts on eBay?

Is this a dumb idea?
No it's not a dumb idea, and try to sell it locally whole as you tend to get the most money that way. Advertise in your nearest ad paper or whatever.

I love my PC but current consoles are great and I can't say I've missed gaming on mine which is now solely used as a workstation. There's plenty of positives for buying into the current console ecosystems.

The PC heaven is a LIE

So now we have, ad hominem, texas sharpshooter, tu quoque and a slight personal incredulity. Do you want to add more ?

You can add as much as you want, you're just dodging at this point.
You said "These aren't myths, these are facts".
I show you how these facts are wrong, like Infinite Warfare being dead as you blatantly said, when you accused me of picking the games I said were actives.

And yes, sorry if your bolded posts reads like an advertisment.

New thread title is much better, but it is probably too late for any meaningful discussion to happen.

So now we have, ad hominem, texas sharpshooter, tu quoque and a slight personal incredulity. Do you want to add more ?

It is telling that you refuse to substantiate anything you've said and focus purely on rebuttal and deflection.

That's cool, it's also why I have a small array of Raspberry Pis for tinkering and general use. They're loads of fun.

How would one justify investing in PS4 PRO (man that PRO sure sounds elitist) when they already have PS4?

Multiple ways, perhaps the first is that you get the convenience of a console with better graphics and performance, basically a PS4 on steroids. Then there are people who want to see their 4k screens being used, then there are people complaining their ps4s are noisy/ dying, then you have people who want the newest things. A lot of Ps4 gamer will get on the bandwagon once they see how games look on the pro (double the gpu, a 30% better cpu and a built in 4k checker-boarding technique is a lot, for an extra 100 dollar, contrary to what a lot of people like to tell you. specially about the cpu)

That's a lot of saying nothing. You made a sweeping claim of PC elitism this way and that, and now you try to defend it as 'opinion'.

I am pretty sure that I am not the first one you heard saying something like that.

Nevertheless, I brought you an extra, unnecessary example. What else should I do to just write of opinion in a forum?

The last time I visit neogaf it was indeed a forum.

I don't care if you think I am biased. This is not my problem.

That's me laughing at people criticising that pro Sony post but completely ignoring the same behaviour from the PC evangelists.

The op shows no signs of believing 'crazy myths' whether for or against PC. In fact his assessment of his own situation sounds quite grounded and rational to me.

Only the Op really knows if he wants his PC or not. If he doesn't, then selling it while he can get some money back is a better choice than allowing it to gather dust, yes?

Uhh...yeah. I said as much, you quoted me and agreed with me. You talked about a "defence force" as if they came from nowhere. Both sides have given reasons for or against. One side kind of went crazy with weird basement dweller attacks and outdated myths mixed with some truth.

I've never seen so many people so excited for what amounts to a $150 GPU upgrade.

I wonder if somewhere there isa thread of people upgrading to a shiny new GTX 960 and posting shots of downsampled Skyrim with a 1,000 responses of "Oooohs" and "Ahhhs".

Say what you will about Sony, but they know marketing.

If someone already owns a PS4, it's not a "extra 100 dollars", it's an "extra 400 dollars"

People are thinking just because he games with friends on PS4 that he should sell his PC. Keep the PC for singleplayer multiplats at least, get a Pro for multiplayer.

When sony suggested that the pro was intended to serve players who may turn to pc, I laughed. I thought surely that would be a vanishingly small number of people for whom the pc is nothing more than a game machine with better graphics. But now I'm not so sure. Maybe there was some truth to that.

If that's the audience they want to capture, they never needed to worry.

I think this is due to everyone upgrading at once, console gamers get stuck with lower end graphical fidelity for years and when theres an upgrade, it's a pretty large one.

Obvious it's not as large this time as this is the first time we've had mid gen upgrades but I guess it's still enough to get them excited.

But looking at the Titanfall 2 downsample thread it does seem like a lot of these people have never seen a downsampled screenshot before, they seem shocked lol.

This isn't the case for OP though. OP doesn't game on PC - he says he only uses it for browsing and stuff.

No, because he doesn't use it. How many more times does this need to be stated.

edit: seems like you did read that, so not sure why you think he should still keep the pc.

did you just learn about logical fallacies yesterday or something

trying to shoehorn things into them after you boldface lied about a lot of things is silly

Wow, What are those things that I supposedly lied about ?!

You can add as much as you want, you're just dodging at this point.
You said "These aren't myths, these are facts".
I show you how these facts are wrong, like Infinite Warfare being dead as you blatantly said, when you accused me of picking the games I said were actives.

How am i dodging, it's you who was dodging. You just cherry picked one thing I said and now you are dancing around it.
15k peak for a new cod game is figuratively dead. Last year bo3 had way more on launch. This also means that only pro players are playing it. Casuals or core gamers will have no chance lasting online. And the probability of getting a hacked session will be extremely high.you'd only have fun playing in the small community with the pros
.
And yes you can argue, that there are titanfall, bf1 and cod4. But these games also exist on the other platforms. And I do not blame anyone for this. BF1 is a way superior game in my opinion, specially on PC. I played BF4 till the last day. and I think BF1 is better than bf4.
I apologize if I offended you.
