Currently I am 150 pages into unbridged Dumas classic and I must say I am bit surprised just how much they added to movie.
It clearly does not seem that Mercedes will be pregnant with Dantes child(Its 16months Dantes was arrested after all and they just mentioned Mercedes). Obviously Fernand is not friend or working companion to Dantes but just weak bumbling "cousin" to Mercedes. There also is no whiping, abit of downplay from life in chateau prison.I just got to part of them meeting the Abbe' above Dantes. Again totally the opposite of movie, here he is not so brave and noble but offering the secret of the treasure repeatedly to any that will listen.
I have to say so far, shockingly, that I actually like changes movie did instead of way Dumas has writen them so far. Maybe I am a abit of a drama queen, but I think the movie changes actually added alot to the story(Sound the ding of literature zealots and their clubs). Though I am still quite enjoying the novel so far.

I absolutely LOVED the movie. One of those movies I can watch multiple times in a week and not get bored of it. I would venture to say it's one of my favorite movies of all time but if it's not in the top whatever, it's really high up there.
