Creed II review embargo up

And predictably, the Top critics don't like it...but the youtuber critics like collider and Chris Stuckmann love it.

73% overall
58% among top critics
81% among non-top critics
Avg score: 7.0/10

I predict it will end up somewhere between 67 to 72% when all the other reviews come in

chris struckmann is a bad reviewer. he literally has bad opinions when it comes to movies. what i mean is he has college school movie maker opinions about movies. he wants movies to be what his courses has taught him about movie making. and if you watch his reviews it lines up perfectly. its gross

Mark Ellis from collider and schmoes is even worse. The guy has NO BUSINESS being included in rottentomatoes. He is a soyboy who loves kiddy things and all action movies.

Jeremy Jahns used to be pretty bad...but lately he has improved. He was one of the few among this youtube geek culture community to actually be honest and say "I don't know exactly how I feel about this movie" in his The Last Jedi review...he said he loved it but was confused...then he saw it again..and gave a lukewarm review to it saying it was enjoyable but had a lot of flaws. The comments section were filled with "Thanks for being honest!" posts. Because Chris Stuckmann, John Campea, the Collider crew, Screenjunkies, etc. were calling it a masterpiece or the best SW movie since 1980/1983.

Nowadays I only trust redlettermedia, IMDB scores, and the rotten tomato audience ratings.

They might be on point with the Star Wars stuff, but I wouldn't say that they're any more accurate a barometer as to the quality of a film than anyone else. Unless a film hits a certain popcorn pace it will inevitably be labelled as boring, which seems to indicate that none of them possesses much of an attention span, truth be told. I watch their output occasionally because they can be funny, I go with RT audience ratings over everything else.

While I often don't agree with Mike and Rich, I find Jay to be very consistent. If Jay says he likes a movie, I feel really confident that I will like it too.

Case in point: Civil War. Mike and Rich hated it, and Jay was shocked by that saying he loved it.

Solo: A Star Wars Story. Rich said he almost loved it. Mike said it was decent or pretty good. Jay didn't like it at all.

The Last Jedi: Rich thought it was meh. Mike and Jay thought the movie was laughably bad and messy.

Black Panther: Jay thought it was pretty decent. Mike was more like "Eh...I'm tired of Marvel movies...but I'll recommend to you marvel fans"

Infinity War: All three of them loved it. Jay said he is stoked for Avengers 4. This was one of the rare times all three of them completely agree and just gush all over the whole movie. They joke about how the MCU is now doing dark and gritty better than the DCEU.

They are one of the few who aren't invited to premieres...which gives them more credibility. Plus they actually have film education/experience unlike the Chris Stuckmann's and Collider, screenjunkies, etc.

I'm not attacking them. I just don't think they're all that. I kind of view them as film reviewers in the same way that I view Jeff Gerstmann when it comes to games. Sometimes he's really on point with certain stuff, but other times he's not the man you want to listen to. Like anything in life you have to figure out who are the best voices for particular subjects and genres, rather than just assume that anyone out there is an absolute authority on all matters. The world is just too complex or that to be the case.

RedLetterMedia are not people I always agree with, but I find them to be endlessly entertaining and sincere enough.

I really liked the first Creed, but I'm starting to dislike Michael B Jordan in movies. It's like when you see someone do an amazing job in a role, but then they play every role the exact same way without any range and you start to wonder if they just got really lucky with the casting and direction the first time around.

I haven't watched their reviews yet, but they do seem like enthusiasts of the giant bomb type. I laughed at some of the Nerd Crew videos, but I can't help but wonder where they get all of the toys for those videos lol.

Creed was one of my favorite movies that year with Thompson being the only real weakness. This looks to once again be the polar opposite of Disney's approach to SW and the trailers have been fire.

Coogler didn't write or direct this, did he? If not, that might explain the reactions.

I still plan on watching this... Maybe not in theaters... Maybe when it's on Blu-ray.

Creed 3 will be Adonis vs. the son of Tommy Gunn, played by either Trey Morrison or James Mckenzie Morrison (both heavyweight prospects, and Mckenzie looks exactly like Tommy Morrison)

Creed II was okay. It's far surpassed by Creed and a good chunk of the other Rocky films. But there are some good human moments there.

The ending, in particular, was very well done. I'm not referring to the boxing part, mind. The boxing was probably the weakest part of the film.
