Far Cry 1 and Crysis 1 were my go-to games back then to fool around with the physics and admire the graphics. I was blown away what my puny 9600 XT could pull off, and I still played Far Cry 1 when I got X800 Pro. And then I had to get two HD 4870's just to play Crysis. I took so many screenshots of those two games that the hard drive was full of them. So many ways to approach the goals and enemies. It was kind of unprecedented back to be that much open world while also having best in the business graphics.

But yes, Crytek has been pretty much irrelevant for the past 15 years. They fell off fast.

Well when a game focuses mainly in visual technology that's what happens, gameplay and story were mediocre

Started off with Far Cry on a GeForce 2 MX 400 and DirectX 7 - it looked terrible, but I was still impressed. Even more so after upgrading my motherboard, CPU, and getting an ATI 9800 Pro - DirectX 9 in all its glory. But then even the 720p HD trailer for Crysis made my PC drop below 30 FPS. Upgrading to an X850 Pro didn't help, so I ended up buying a new computer: Intel Core2Duo 6700 + 8800 GTS 512.
That was huge - probably my biggest "this is peak graphics" moment ever.
Good times...

Crytek basically didn't evolve. Crysis 1 is probably their most advanced game. From there they dumbed each sequel down. Ryse was even more of a dumbed down game.

For me, Crysis didn't hold up that well sadly. I jumped in again when they were remastered and I didn't really like them.

They retroactively dumbed down Crysis. The fundamental changes made the game lose that much more of its identity.

This video is extremely amateurish. I hoped to see more early footage of Far Cry/X-isle, but I could see that 80% of it was gonna be an ad for Crysis so nah. It says a bunch of nothing. If it was supposed to be some sort of "we're still awesome" kind of thing, it...didn't do that. At all.

Maybe it's just an advertising campaign for Crysis 4 to generate some attention and shout "hey we're still here" to the world.

Anyway, I liked the video, it's a nice throwback

Those Far Cry and Crysis videos take me back to a time when you saw a snapshot of what true "next-gen" was like. It was even more of a marvel when you played them, the use a very large map back then in shooter was just insane.

Chose the opinable ps360 version of Crysis 1 to make a graphic remaster surely didn't helped them neither.

Loved the video. Takes me back to an amazing time. Oh what hype I had for Crysis!
Thank you for sharing and I hope to see more from Crytek.

Forgot about these guys. They are basically the equivalent of Game Science (Wukong devs) having a hit with wukong out of nowehre, following it up with a solid sequel, and then fading into oblivion immediately.
