Damn Analogue...way to reward your patient pre order customers

I mean black would have been my choice anyway but how does Analogue not realize that making people wait over a year after they paid in full and had their consoles delayed three times...are going to NOT be stoked when you release eight color variants with no wait time between ordering and the Analogue 3D shipping? The reward for early adoption was a long wait with next to no communication and then the rug pulled out from underneath you with a big FOMO limited edition set of consoles

That's cold

I 100% knew they would do this. They did the same thing with the Pocket.

Waiting to see what the M64 brings to the table with its controller and analogue output options.
well we know its the MiSTer FPGA core with improvements and the MiSTer core and Analogue core are for all intents and purposes par 1:1 so...bare minimum exact level of performance you'd get out of Analogue or MiSTer and better than that as a possibility

The good thing is resale value on most Analogue stuff goes up very quickly, so just wait a few months or whenever stock runs out then sell your Black system for a profit.

I fully believe that this release was planned for 4 to 6 months after their planned release date (as was the Analogue Pocket Colorway updates) but the initial delays caused the initial release to bump into their "holiday 2025" release plan.

They should have offered preorder folks the option to change their color choice when they sent out address confirmation emails in November.

I am still going to order a gold one...but goddamn analogue!

I'll be honest, but playing devil's advocate here.

You know Analogues playbook. Everyone know's their playbook and release history. It sucks, but it's not different than Take 2 making people double or triple dip for GTA, waiting for the PC version etc.

People didn't have to buy the white or black versions.
You could have bought one and not opened it. Makes it diffuclt to review for youtube channel though. Then resold the original un opened for a large mark up. Playing the Ebay market is unforunately common for these devices.
You could have waited for the colours, because everyone knew it was coming.
No one had to buy the black or white controllers either.

Yes it sucks, but it's standard Analogue playbook, no one should be surprised. People need to control themselves and not fall for FOMO.

Not defending this tactic, just to be clear. I expected nothing less.

I'd argue that there's no justification for bad business behavior towards one's customers. But even taking things as they are, there really isn't an expectation that there'd be a bunch of colors introduced. First, we're talking a delay of a couple of weeks, with hardware that was announced like two years ago. I'm sure there's plenty of people who, because of the holidays and whatnot, haven't even had a chance to crack open their preordered consoles yet. Can't be a good feeling when you see there's a version you want even more just around the corner all of a sudden. And second, look at their last system, the Analogue Duo. Black and White. Nothing else. Pocket was arguably the exception to the rule.

Sorry this is fucking hilarious. They take money from people, delay it for years, people are patient, launch it, and then 2 weeks later release all these awesome colors.

The issue here is that Analogue's stuff is like, who knows, it comes and goes. We might never see their SNES or Genesis for sale ever again.

So when people want it, they buy it.

The least they could have done would be offer a free / cheap plastic shell replacement case of the color of their choice to people who pre-ordered

Wild that they feel the need to do anything to boost the sales of a product they can't even keep in stock as it is. Just scummy behavior.

Palmer Luckey's N64 is way more appealing imo
heh try saying that on BlueSky

As much as it would be nice to re-release the Mega SG, Super Nt, Duo or even the Noir, I guess they are too small or allergic to money?

I do suspect that they may release new versions of older units with the Analogue 3D built in 4K support and scan lines, since it's VERY good. Eliminating the need for any more DAC support, which is already dead.

It's easy money really. Would also give 8bit do a boost on controller sales. It would also comfortably make profits and support whatever their next project might be.

I'm not sure how big the company is though. Rarely do they release firmware updates for their old systems, my biggest pet peeve.

Exactly. There is no positive spin on treating customers like they do.

The fix was easy; offer pre order customers the chance to wait for a color model and tell them they have to pay the difference OR they can keep their original order

The people that switch open their allocation up to general stock and we know those all will sell. And they pay the difference

So Analogue spends zero dollars to make people happy and lose zero dollars as well. A win win

They chose the win / lose where they still make the money and their pre order customers who waited loyally lose

I'd guess part of the reason they didn't announce the funtastic colors in advance is because a considerable amount of people took advantage of the refunds after the first delay (myself included). The customers that waited for the launch systems are going to double dip and the ones that bailed or were on the fence will buy these up instead. Seems like questionable business practice any way you look at it.

I'm starting to suspect that getting hatred from their community is a kink at this point, it'd be so easy to avoid with the basics of communication.

The kink is the hatred, the gratification is shipping finally a quality product after all the humiliation.
