Damn!! NFS: most wanted get hard

Good tips Truelize, that's exactly what I came back to this thread for. I'm getting really annoyed with the pursuits, where you're doing great for 10-15 minutes and then you lose for some bullshit reason. The last game I played, they layed a spike strip down right in front of a sideways car... so literally, the spikestrip was being blocked by the car, I hit the car, but it counts me hitting the spike strip. And of course all the times where you have a clear path out of a pileup of cars, but for some damn reason the game just wont let you move forward. Maybe changing the cars will help me with that. EDIT - actually I have been using the CLK. Better max that puppy out.

Any tips on how to get huge bounties? The current milestone is 600000 bounty in one go, but I can't possibly imagine getting up that high without going for a half hour or more. What's the quick ways of building up bounty, destroying cop cars?

Taggin cop cars, running into tollbooths, civilian cars etc... taking out roadblocks and pursuit breakers build some some huge bounty. And the higher the heat level the quicker the bounty builds up.
I never felt that the CLK felt really fast (or it doesn't sound that fast) but it is such a stable car that I felt I always had a chance to get away from getting boxed in and such.
You need front wheel drive for the pursuits though. The traction on the high HP rearwheel cars is horrible.

i am on #7 and i am still using my VW golf...i have upgrade so much i dont use any other car....

You will need to eventually. Trust me. A maxed out Golf is no where near as fast as a maxed out Vette. Even though the sliders that show top speed, accelleration and handling might say different.
My Lambo had less top speed and less acceleration than my Supra but I couldn't complete a bunch of the speed traps with the Supra and killed them on my first attempt with the Lambo.

Not a car guy so I don't know what you mean by that. Do you mean tweak my car settings to make me more tractioned or something?

Front wheel drive = engine powers front wheels.
Rear wheel drive = engine powers rear wheels.

It means you can use something like a VW Golf or a Honda Civic, but not a Dodge Viper or Chevy Corvette.

I'm at black list #3 and the game is just starting to get near impossible. The races are still fairly easy but the police chases are driving me crazy right now.

Tagging 32 cop cars, doing a pursuit that is longer than 8 minutes (not hard. The pursuit I needed to advance to race the #4 guy lasted 35 minutes) and get a bounty of 600,000 is not easy.

Anyone else gotten past this point yet?? I'm just curious if anyone can relate to the frustration I am feeling right now.

Note: still the best NFS I've played. Great game.

i dont know how i did finish the game. i really got so pissed at black list # 2 and the police chases was so hard it wasnt even funny.

if you want my advise. go with Lamborghini murcielago at full performance [ and i mean everything upgraded to the max. everything ]. the car has a nice turning curve and i wish you good luck

also i agree its the best NFS i have ever played

I'm thinking I'm going to just get just enough milestones to face the guy, then just build my bounty after a few 'smaller' chases then being constantly frustrated like I am.

I finished this a bit back so let me give a few tips on this game.

#1 Turn off autosave.

You'll need to do this because I'm going to talk about how to get the persons car you've just beaten.

Ok when you beat a black list member you get 3 icons to choose from as well as performance enhancing icons.

The pink slip for the blacklist member rotates through the 3 icons.. so like for this race if it was the center icon, the next black list member it'll be the icon to the right of it... and then it'll rotate back to the 1st icon.

That's why you'll want to turn off autosave just in case you don't get it right the first time.

#2. Choose a pursuit car that does not "burnout".

This ones pretty simply take one of your cars out of the hideout... come to a full stop and mash the gas. IF you burnout before you take off this is a POOR pursuit car because at the higher levels cops will box you in quickly and you NEED a car that can quickly navigate through a small hole that might exist before the cops completely surround you. I had great success with the CLK in that respect.

#3. Use multiple cars.

For me I used 2 cars for my achivements and 1 car for my racing. That way you don't have to worry about unnecessary heat complicating some of the already difficult races during the game.

#4. Don't be afraid to swap body panels and/or paint.

There is a point during the game where you will HAVE to do this your heat will jump up through no fault of your own. Don't be afraid to change your spoiler, change your paint cooler etc to get your heat back down.

#5. Turn down the music turn UP the talking.

Turn down the music... sure it sounds great(not)... turn down the car sounds(sure they sound great).

You NEED to pay attention to the radio chatter...99% of the time you'll hear when spike strips and such are set up in front of you and that will give you the additional seconds you'll need at travelling 100+ to avoid them. And occasionally you'll be able to hear the Rhino vehicles coming in.

#6. Pay attention to where you are when doing pursuits.

Ok the upper highway is a circle it's great for doing pursuits but you need to be aware of where you are... when you are in open sections that have two lanes and open grass in the middle it's easier to see and avoid spike strips... however when you're in a tunnel section you need to pay a bit more attention/glance more often to/at your radar because you're only going to have a small amt of space to avoid spike strips....

#7. DO bump cops... DO crash in to toll booths, DO crash in to roadblocks using Speedbreaker. DO occasionally bump civilian vehicles... all of this will increase your bounty level.

#8. USE Your Speedbreaker.

You get increased traction AND it makes your car heavier. You'll need that if you're using a lighter car on roadblocks, and it'll give you a few extra seconds to possibly avoid a Rhino vehicle.

Darien's 2 Favorite hiding spots for avoiding cops:

1. The stadium on the middle left side of the upper highway... here's what you do.

Wait until you're at a low point in your pursuit(only 1-2 cars on you and no helicopter), you'll see during your pursuits that the amt of cars chasing you will fluctuate.

When you have only 1-2 on you cut in to the stadium knock down the entrance side go in to the stadium near one side... and STOP. Just sit there.

Only ONCE did I have a cop come around the outside and come in after me and he was by himself so it was easy to get away. Most of time however they'll get stopped at the entrance and you can just wait out the meter.

2. Underpasses. Similar to #1 you'll want to wait til there's a low point in the chase and on the upper right side of the highway you'll notice you've got a few underpasses... take an off ramp slam on the breaks and hide under the bridge... this one doesn't work nearly as often as the #1 but it does work...

Geez that post was longer than I thought... I really enjoyed Most Wanted.

It's all or nothing man. :) It can be frustrating when a 20 minute chase end with getting caught but that's why the big Xbox button is there.

You don't need to turn autosave off if you quickly head to the Xbox360 dashboard. That's how I did it.
I did it when I got busted and didn't have a ticket to get outta jail free (or whatever). I used it twice when I really really wanted the rival car and didn't pick the right markers.

I just finished this game last night. The first 75% of the game is pretty easy (and slow) but my impressions changed dramatically the further (and harder) it got. The races themselves are not too exciting, and they are pretty damn easy even up to Blacklist #1. It's the COP PURSUITS which will have you tearing your hair out and throwing your controller!

Yes, it's extremely cheap, but if you do the BUS STATION GLITCH it will take away some of that pain at the higher milestones. There's nothing worse than running multiple 10-15 minute pursuits and hitting a random spike belt.

Bottom line: Yes, it's an EA game, it's a bit chunky and the EA Trax are terrible, but there are some truly EPIC chases that bump up the fun factor 10 fold. The very last pursuit is incredible.

ly retarded is what I'd say of the last pursuit... your BMW is crap compared to what you've been tooling around in... I got lucky in that on my 3rdd try just before the tunnel that leads to the area up by the stadium where you need to go I lost all the cops so I actually just sat there til I got the... indication to proceed.

HA!

Hmm, my pursuit involved some epic freeway chases and multiple pursuit breakers in the northern part of the map until I realized the bridge was a bit south :) At first I thought the M3 was crap (I tried to tune it right away but no dice) until I started bashing those silly cop cars around. Even against the Rhinos, I found the M3 to be more of a tank than my Corvette, Viper or Porsche.

The blue spot

The game gets tough near the end no doubt, but it's definitely beatable. This is one of if not the only EA game that makes you really earn those 1000 achievement points, unless of course you glitch for the points. Lame!

Most Wanted has now eclipsed Hot Pursuit 2 as my favorite NFS title.

I think my order right now is

Most Wanted
Hot Pursuit 2
Underground/Underground 2 (tie)
Hot Pursuit

I must be the only person on this board who actually liked the EA Trax on this game. I actually kept about 75% of the the songs on in the list. The Techno/Rap mix seemed to fit the game perfectly. I loved playing the Techno tracks while racing and doing the milestones. Rap was for the menus.

I have to give props to EA for NFSMW. I started out skeptical, and the game really won me over. It's the most fun I've had with a racing game in a long while.

Hey, even the glitch isn't easy to pull off. It took me many, many tries to finally get it to work correctly (you still have to evade - hiding is the easy part). Normally cheating is the absolute last resort for me in games, but MW pissed me off something fierce.

It's not forgiving. You can be the uber-est, leet, mo-fo racer dodging spike traps and Rhinos left and right, and if you make even the slightest wrong turn the chase comes crashing to a halt and you have 10 corvettes jumping on you like a battle royale cage match. You get NOTHING. Nada. Zero. Well, not true. You get a fine, your car is towed, and you lose yet another 15 minutes of your LIFE.

I think the thing that pissed me off the most is when you hit a pursuit breaker that was close to a spike belt. As soon as you hit the breaker, the game takes over and "drives" your car a little after the hit, and a lot of those times it would drive me right into the spikes. If the computer's going to be cheap, I'm going to be cheap :)

I think they should have balanced the game a bit more - made the races progressively harder and eased up on some of the Pursuit insanity.

Either way I'm glad I got this bastard out of the way before GRAW. ;)

Yeah I had that happen once. Luckily it was only once. I was amazed that that happened. I was in the clear, had just took out the last two cars on my tail and then the screen cuts back to me and my car is sliding to a stop. For a second I didn't even know what had happened.

I second that. :D As much as I enjoyed this game I felt I needed to have it finished before GRAW and Oblivion come out.

Thanks to the advise in the thread I finally went back and got enough points to challenge Razor. The races where easy and the final pursuit to a little bit of time but I'm finally done. I think it was pretty good, for a launch game. Thanks for the help GAF.

Cool. Anothe GAFer finishes this game.

Hooray.

You win.... 1000 achievement points :D

I love those.

I just wanted to say that I tried out the bus station glitch, and it has to be the most HILARIOUS thing I've ever seen. All the cops trying to get to me, basically playing demolition derby with each other crashing into the bus, walls, each other, over and over again, its fucking awesome. Even though I plan on winning the 'honest' way, I highly recommend trying the glitch once for fun times.

This is good advice. I tried this last night when things got out of hand. I had a dozen cop cars on my ass and a helicopter in the sky. It still worked, with some variations. I drove into the stadium and blocked the entrance, and then drove to the other side and tapped the other entrance and collapsed that. I sat there, and could see on the radar that the heli was circling around looking for me. I waited til the cop presence was all in front of me, as the evade meter wasn't going anywhere. After a minute or so I spun around and drove back to the other entrance and stopped under cover. This did it and the evade meter quickly started up and Bingo.....550000 bounty. Sweet. Thanks Darien.

The stadium is real good. One time I was in cooldown mode, waiting for the race to finish, and I was a little worried about a helicopter showing up and spotting me. So I'm sitting there, just waiting when suddenly a shadow hits my car from the sky, OH SHIT... but wait, why isn't the heli on my radar? I wait for this shadow in the sky to pass over me. It was the Burger King blimp, son of a bitch :lol

Yeah the stadium was by far my favorite cooldown spot. I once even had a cop car slip through the wreckage and get into the stadium. I didn't want to leave the stadium so I decided to just start running into him. It was like playing Destruction Derby on the PS1. I think it took about 5 or 6 good hard shots before I had him flipped and knocked out of the chase and then the cooldown meter filled up within seconds. :lol

Gotta love the indestructable cars.

Yeah for real. I had a new car with real low heat and I kept losing the cops without trying, so I figured I would just ram into the cop car until backup showed up. Until I realized that with 5-6 hits they just get totalled. That's one way to get out of a new chase sequence....

Some of your heavier cars can take out a cop with one hit... late in the game when your pursuit start down low by the stadium around the construction at the bottom of the map? Normally if you want to hit the highway you would turn right, then right again in front of the stadium to get on the highway?

Well a few times in the Viper I just floor it when straight ahead and knocked the shit outta of the cop car... disabled in one hit... funny as hell.

The most brutal cop hit I've ever done was while I was in the middle of a race when the cop chatter was saying "speeding racers have been reported, suspect is in a gold Lamborghini" but never showed up in the race. So I see the finish line, use all my boost and I'm at 210 mph when suddenly the screen turns blue JUST before crossing the finish line, the cop is sideways 5 feet from the finishline. The game freezes up and does the snapshot thing to show me I won, and then the game kicks back in, BAM! That cop car goes flying so fucking far I couldn't believe it, in the air, bouncing off invisible walls. I went into cooldown mode right fucking after.

Ok, honestly, how the hell do you escape at Condition 5? I hit 3 pursuit breakers in a row, all crushing 3-5 cops each, and everytime I did, 5 more cops would show up on my radar. No matter what I did, more corvettes would show up seconds later.

Like I said, I even ditched a chopper with the stadium. I have done it a couple of times by fluke as well. Golf course + golf course hiding spot FTW

Yeah I'm thinking heading straight for the stadium might be the only course of action at level 5.

That's usually what I tried to do. I would keep looking at the map to find some pursuit breakers so I didn't have too many cars chasing me and then I would head to the stadium. I would usually lose a whole bunch of cops by ramming through a roadblock and then taking off right away and they would all be stuck behind the roadblock.

The key is to not get too hurried to finish the pursuit. If you on the highway you can easily just keep speeding around and then jetting into town hitting a couple of pursuit breakers and then heading back out to the highway. I had a pursuit that broke 45 minutes once I think. Good times.

The stadium saved me a few times as well, but you have to watch out for choppers. I got busted a few times camping in the stadium by the chopper and it started all over again. At level 5 you have to hit some serious persuit breakers and possibly end up hiding in one of the underground tunnel type areas. That was how I passed and got the bounty $$$ at the very end.
