I've played a lot of suckie NES games, but Kabuki Quantum Fighter is pretty suckie and ranks up there with the suckiess of suckie games.
I'm not sure if this game came before Ninja Gaiden, but I'm damn sure it didn't come before Megaman. This game is like a cross between Megaman and Ninja Gaiden-- and that's not a good thing because when the two games were bred with each other, the difficulty gene was dominate. I can't even get past the third level because the suckie controls and super difficulty keeps getting me killed. The only thing this game has going for it is some possibly good tunes at times, but make no mistake, there's some suckie tunes in there as well.
This game is so damn megaman-esque it just SCREAMS Capcom all over the place. At the title screen is says "Licensed by Nintendo" and "HAL America" or something like that. Exactly who was behind this suckie game? Based on the music, art, etc. if I saw no logos, I would of thought it was a Japanese game. Does that "HAL" mean it was created in America?
I'm glad this game never saw a sequel. We don't need any more treasure trolls running around attackin people with their hair.

I first played this a couple years ago. It was not as godly as EGM said it was (all 8s, IIRC) nor was it as difficult as its reputation suggested. I beat it in that first sitting, fairly easily.

Anyway, found it playable but overrated.
