Dan Houser on Lex Friedman

Animated GIF

Listening today. Dan hasn't done 3 hours of press in the last ten years so this will be nice, even though as mentioned Lex is the worst person to do it.

Listened to the whole thing. Seems like a likable guy, crazy he's never done interviews like this before. I guess now he needs to push his new company.

It's the shame the interviewer only asked the questions like they were on paper instead of a back and forth. I was curious if there was any issues with leaving Rockstar but to me it seems like he just needed a change. He goes on about procrastinating a lot so I'm guessing he couldn't find his flow after his sabbatical. It doesn't seem like there is any falling out with Rockstar.

Basically they did really try with "Agent" but the ideas just didn't work out in the end.

I see IGN are now running (and will keep doing so) new articles to get the clicks in based on the interview.

I'd like to see him interviewed by more suited interviewers.

I love how humble Dan is, you could tell he didn't want all the credit for the games, he always made it a point to bring up the team.

Very honest and human interview. Could listen to Dan Houser talk for hours, his insights into the creative process are hilariously relatable. Good stuff! 👍

Great interview. Houser has seen and inspired so many eras in videogames, surprising to see he seems pretty well grounded.

And I'd rather see Lex do this ahead of literally any games "journalist" who would probably refuse to shut the fuck up about "crunch culture"

Not sure what problems people here have with Lex Friedman.

Great podcaster.
He's the textbook example of why networking is so much more important than actual talent.
Dude is probably the most boring, sleep inducing podcaster out there but he knows people who know people so he manages to get very interesting people in his show.

Yeah, I like Lex, too. I like the way he closes his eyes to articulate his thoughts sometimes. I've seen some good interviews by him. Otoh, I can see how he wouldn't be a great fit to interview Dan Houser.

Shame that we get so tangled up with the personality behind the channel, rather than dealing with the content itself. I clicked the thread because I was curious whether Dan said anything interesting or meaningful, but all I hear is moaning about Lex.

Funny parody, but personally I don't find anything bad with how Friedman is interviewing people.

His personality is his personality, we are all different; as for him having connections to bring interesting people, I mean, what exactly it wrong with that?

The most viewed podcasts, and interviews are always with famous, important, and relevant people, to get more people who will follow, and subscribe to his channel. :pie_diana:
