'Dancing With the Stars' wants to waltz with Spicer

Departing White House press secretary Sean Spicer may have spent the past six months as a cast member of the White House version of “Survivor” but his next act might be with a different sort of reality show.

Two sources tell POLITICO that ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” has expressed interest in Spicer joining the show, in which celebrities are paired with professional dancers and compete with one another.

Spicer wouldn’t be the show’s first political contestant. Rick Perry, now energy secretary, competed last year; he was voted off in the second week.

The New York Post first reported on the reality TV show’s interest in Spicer on Wednesday. Spicer did not respond to a request for comment. An ABC spokesperson said: “We don’t comment on casting.”

Separately, multiple sources told POLITICO Spicer met in New York on Wednesday with ABC’s news division, CBS, NBC and Fox. Some were conversations pertaining to a contributor-style position while others were just get-to-know-you sessions, according to people familiar with the meetings.

One television network source suggested that regardless of whether Spicer obtains a full-time gig, he is also a very sought-after guest right now.

Photos posted by TVNewser showed Spicer outside CBS and Fox News headquarters. CBS and NBC declined to comment. Fox did not respond to a request for comment, but, when asked earlier about Spicer possibly signing with Fox, it said it talks "to all major players.”
