Head and shoulders does absolutely nothing for me what so ever

There's this thing I also use called Aquaphor for other parts of dry skin that does a really good job. It doesn't seem to really "cure" it but it does get rid of it for a little while. I'm sure if applied everyday it'd work a lot better.

It's more like a lotion or oil, not really a shampoo.

Aquaphor is an amazing ointment for dry skin (and especially for lips, which I can't imagine using any other product for), but it's probably too large in molecular weight to really penetrate the scalp.

Plus it'd be really messy to rinse out.

May as well try it if you're desperate and/or if your head is shaved. You're probably right though anyway. It's a pain to put on through hair.

I tried regular Head and Shoulders and then Selsun Blue. Both didn't work out too well for me, dandruff galore. I tried the Head and Shoulders 2-in-1 dry scalp care with almond oil and it's been doing a great job. Just don't wash your head with hot water (wash it kind of cold if possible) and try to get fresh air during the day.

Don't use head and shoulders - it causes aggravation of the scalp.

As opposed to?

Also, what is "aggravation" supposed to be? My scalp does not itch, I don't have dandruff usually, I'm not really losing hair by the bundle as I've always had thin hair.

Not sure what "aggravated skin" is supposed to be.

In fact, when I moved off using it everyday and switched off my dandruff started coming back

I've got psoriasis and bad flakey skin on my head but head and shoulders every two days keeps it under control.

Nizoral helps me a ton

This right here.

I had (or have) bad dandruff. I tried everything, including Head and Shoulders, and nothing worked. However, Nizoral is basically the closes thing to a cure for me. There are two versions, 1% and 2%. You can get the 1% over the counter, but if you have really bad dandruff, ask a dermatologist if you can get the 2% version.

I had this problem and I even bought some special drug store shampoo for ridiculous price (10€ for a bottle of Nizoral that is 1/4th the size of a regular shampoo bottle) but it stopped when I figured out that it's actually just a problem with dry scalp instead of regular dandruff which I think is a fungal infection or something.

A bottle of Head & Shoulders Dry Scalp Care is what I swear by nowadays. It keeps my head in far better condition than anything ever has.

I've tried all those shampoos. H&S, T-Gel, Sensen Blue, Tea Tree Oil blah blah blah... They usually make it worse. Now I just buzz my head and never wash it.

I'd rather deal with it than go to a doctor.

Selsun Blue is decent for dandruff. I rarely get outbreaks, but when I do have one, it gets really bad to where I spend the whole day scratching my head.

I don't know how I get it though. I can go weeks without washing my head and my scalp still comes out okay.

I'll second tea tree oil for a temporary fix and it actually feels really good on a sore scalp. Does smell weird though.

Head and Shoulders never worked for me but somehow this shit was magic:

granted my case wasn't super bad though so definitely think about seeing a dermatologist if you can.

I get psoriasis on either side of my nose, in between my eyebrows and on my scalp and this shampoo worked pretty well for a while until it just randomly stopped working one day.

This, however, :

works like a fucking miracle for me. I'm convinced the main ingredient is unicorn jizz it works so good. It even worked perfectly when I had my long hair and my hair is fucking THICK.

The only part that sucks is it's hard to find around me so I buy it at 4-5 bottles at a time when I find it.

I basically only use drugstore-grade shampoo everyday. Anything else and I'm guaranteed to get massive dandruff outbursts. Cosmetic-grade stuff like Clear and H&S barely work, they mostly remove the stuff that's already shed but don't really prevent further shedding in my case.

I also need to rotate the active ingredient I'm using every few months otherwise my dandruff starts becoming resistant to it. I'm on zinc pyrithione right now, after months of selenium sulphate. I used ketoconazole way too much in my teens it became completely ineffective.
